Summary: Ino knows it's wrong. Itachi knows it's dangerous. But to them, none of their differences matter.

Warnings: ItaIno. Don't like, don't read.

Request from my friend, @LittleMiss_Zhayn for ItaIno. Not something I've ever written (Never written Naruto in general), but hey, challenge is the spice of life! Please, enjoy!

Prompt (obtained from OTPPrompts): Person A and Person B are famous and know that soon they're going to have to break up or fall apart. Their entire relationship has always been a secret. They go to an abandoned beach and throw a letter in a bottle into the ocean. The letter reads: "If you find this, let them know. Tell them how we were in love."

{~*~}

Ino knew how wrong everything was. Itachi Uchiha was supposed to be some mass murdering, insane, psychotic S-class ninja. Instead, here he was, all caring and sad and morose. His cold hand was clasped in hers. She was probably squeezing way too hard, but the older ninja didn't seem to care.

"So then... Is this it?" She asked softly, looking over the small pond in the Hidden Leaf Village. Itachi was risking a lot, and Kisame would likely be furious when he returned to their camp, but Akatsuki be damned, Itachi Uchiha did what he wanted. And right now, he wanted to say goodbye to his girlfriend, Hidden Leaf kunoichi or not. Hidden in his cloak was a small glass bottle. He nodded stiffly, releasing her hand to grab the cold container.

"You know I love you, Ino," he said softly, pulling the stopper out of the bottle. "So we're going to give them a chance to find out."

Two small slips of paper, one hers and one his, were placed in the bottle before he re-corked it and tied a small rock to it. It hit the water with a soft plunk. Ino watched, leaning into Itachi's comforting warmth, as it slowly sank beneath the surface, hidden from the world. Ninja walked on the lake all the time, but without an observer, no one would ever look in the lake. He turned to her, placing a soft kiss on her lips; one of the things she loved was this hidden soft side, the one only Sasuke had seen and know thought was long dead. Screw the fact that they had a five-year difference. Screw the major difference in occupation. Screw that she should call for jonin reinforcements on-sight and have him killed. Itachi was a damn nice guy.

Minutes later, she was out cold on a bench, and Itachi had disappeared, the bottle all but gone at the bottom of a lake.

+++++20 YEARS LATER+++++

"I got this! Just watch me catch the biggest fish ever!"

"Yeah right, I'm gonna beat you!"

Two young boys, one brown-haired and one black-haired glared at each other, fishing rods clutched in their hands, their only goal to catch a bigger fish. Behind them, a young blonde girl watched before yawning. "You two are so childish," she called, settling down for a nap.

"YOU'RE THE SAME AGE AS US!" the boys roared together before returning to their bickering. The blonde sighed, then perked up as the black-haired boy's rod twitched a little. He yanked it harshly, and they all watched as something flew up out of the water. A rock landed on the brunette boy's head, and a small bottle landed in the girl's lap, two small slips of paper inside. They gathered around her, staring curiously at the bottle, as their supervisor crouched beside the trio, cocking her head one way.

"What do you have there?" Temari asked, looking at the bottle. It was an ordinary thing, easily overlooked, but there was algae growing on it. It had been down there for a long time.

"Can I open it, Temari-nee?" The girl asked, smiling brightly.

"Go for it."

The cork was pulled with difficulty, water streaming out of it as soon as they removed it, and she read the two dry slips. How did they ever stay dry..?

On one slip, the handwriting was messy, but recognizable - Ino's. The other was foreign to her, but easily readable: small, neat print. Someone who was organized and meticulous.

"Hey, guys... What do you say we keep this as our little secret, eh? I'll keep a hold of it," she said, tucking the slips back in the bottle. The kids agreed when she told them the slips were boring instructions to cooking, and she leaped back into her spot in the tree, smiling.

If you find this, let them know. Tell them how we were in love.
