Erin welcomed Trudy in, "Thanks for coming" she smiled, "I need your help"Trudy hung her jacket on the back of the chair, she couldn't help but notice Jay's keys on the table, she only recognized them as he was constantly losing them and they always ended up on her desk. She was certain Jay and Erin were more than 'just friends' but decided it was none of her business, "What can I do for you?"
Erin pulled a cake from the fridge, "You want some cake?"
"No, I'm good thanks" Trudy told her, "what's going on?"
Erin sat down, "I spoke to Adam and he thinks it's a good idea but I wanted to run it by you as well, I know you're close with Kim"
"I am"
"I want to throw a baby shower for Kim, I know this hasn't been easy for her or Adam and I really think she needs a little celebration"
Trudy smiled, "Erin, it's a wonderful idea. I would love to help you with it, Kim's become like a daughter to me" she meant every word of it, the pair had become extremely close and she truly loved Kim as if she was her daughter.
"Perfect, let's meet this weekend and we can sort it all out" Erin told her, just as Jay came down the hallway.
Erin felt her face turn bright red, Jay froze in place, "Oh, get over it Halstead. I won't say a word" Trudy laughed.
"Thanks Sarge" Erin said sheepishly, glaring at Jay.
"What?" Jay said when Erin returned, "I needed to take a leak, what was I supposed to do?"
"Let's hope Platt doesn't tell anyone" Erin said as he wrapped his arms around her.
Kim finished reading the letter, she turned to Adam, "Baby look at me, please" he stood up wiping his eyes with the back of his hand, he extended his hand to her helping her stand.
"I'm okay" he told her.
"What are you thinking?"
"I'm a little overwhelmed to be honest, I didn't expect it to play put this way. I don't think I wanted to let myself think about it too much" he laughed, "but it's fucking amazing Kim"
She smiled, "it is isn't"
He took the paper from her hand, he began to read it "it's deemed Adam Ruzek is the biological father" he wiped his eyes again, "it's the best fucking thing I've read in my entire life"
He pulled Kim into his arms and kissed her, his hand on her stomach, she broke the kiss first, "I can't tell you how happy I am"
"You don't have to tell me, I feel the same way" he sat down in the chair Kim in his lap, "I want you to know it wouldn't have made a difference if the outcome was different, I already love that kid"
Kim stroked his cheek, "I know you do, and I don't want to mention him anymore" she finally felt free from him, "I'm going to assume you didn't read the whole report, am I right?"
He laughed, "I didn't, I lost it once I saw that it was mine. I didn't know how I would react, didn't realize I would cry like a little baby" he ran her hand over her stomach again, "I can't wait until it's here, Kim"
"Please stop calling your son an it" she told him, "Adam, it's a boy"
"You're kidding?"
