"Is this good?" Jay asked from the ladder, "please tell me it's good" he begged he had moved the banner at least six different times, each time Trudy demanded it be moved again.Erin laughed as Jay patiently waited for Trudy's response, she busied herself with setting up the food table, anything to stay out of Trudy's way.
Trudy set the clipboard on the counter, "That'll do Halstead" she relented, "it's not straight though, it's a good thing you're a cop and not in construction"
"Now, what?" Jay asked as he climbed down the ladder, Erin had promised him a 'surprise' after the party if he helped with the set up, it was an offer he couldn't refuse.
"Balloons, we need to pick them up" she checked it off the list, "before you do that though, I need you to hang the other banner"
Jay groaned, "Halstead, no complaints" Erin called out from the kitchen.
"Fine, I'm going" he ranted "but you owe me Erin, big time" he quipped as he left.
"I'm fat" Kim whined as she stood in front of the mirror, "like super fat"
Adam came out of the bathroom, he ran his hand through his wet hair, "what'cha say?"he asked her.
"You'll laugh at me" she told him, "it's silly" she told him, she knew she should be happy to be fat it meant their son was growing, and for that she'd be eternally grateful after the way her first trimester had gone.
"I won't laugh, I'd never laugh at you" he stood behind her, his arms around her waist, "how's he doing today?"
Kim leaned into his arms, "you laugh at me all the time" she recalled a night last week when she started crying for no apparent reason and he just laughed at her "remember, last Thursday you laughed at me when I was crying"
He couldn't help but smile, "Baby, you didn't even know why you started crying, I'm sorry I laughed" he kissed her temple, "you're beautiful"
"You're lying Adam" she turned to face him, "can't we stay home?"
He knew they couldn't, this party was exactly what they both needed, and they were going "I'm not lying, and you're the most beautiful woman I've ever laid eyes on" he grabbed her shoes from the closet, "let's go"
She moaned, "why are we going?"
"Don't worry" he smiled, "hey I thought of a name"
She arched an eyebrow, "you did?" They had struggled with finding a name they both liked, most of Adam's suggestions where his favorite athletes, she wanted to name him Adam Junior but he was adamant that he didn't want to name the baby after him, he felt their son needed a name all his own. Though he did agree that they could use Adam as a middle name.
"Yea, what about Aaron?"
"Aaron Adam Ruzek?" She let the name roll off her tongue, "I like it"
"Did we just name our kid?" Adam asked as he helped her up from the bed.
She placed her hand on his chest, "Slow down, let me live with it for a few days, cause our boy will have to live his whole life with it" she grabbed her purse and headed for the door.
Adam tried to stifle his laughter, she turned back at him and shot him the stink eye, "Why are you laughing?"
He held his hands up, "I'm sorry darlin', but you waddle when you walk, it's the cutest thing I've ever laid eyes on"
She hit him with her purse, "you're never gonna have sex again, do you realize that?"
"Please forgive me!" He grabbed her wrist, "I love you, you know" he kissed her, his hand on the small of her back, "it's good to be happy again" he smiled as they parted.
