Luke stood infront of the isle of snack foods in the gas station. He was chewing on his lower lip, sucking on the lip ring as he stared at the Twinkies he held in his hand. They have been standing there for the past ten minutes, ten minutes of nothing but luke staring at twinkies.
he finally looked over to the shelves, placing back the twinkies. but just as he was about to pull his hand away, he grabbed them again. It was like he couldnt make up his mind if he wanted them or not. " if we came in here, i know i got one of these." Luke said lowly.
Michael sighed loudly, clearly bored by standing in one place for so long. He stared at luke, who seemed perplexed. "been on this weird binge this year" luke admitted, staring a the twinkies. Michael leaned in, looking worried. "Luke, you have been manhandling those twinkies for ten minutes now. Youre freaking out the man behind the counter!"
" shh! i need to concentrate!" Snapped Luke with a soft hiss, not taking his eyes off the twinkies in his hand. Michael grinned, raising his hands and wiggling his fingers as if suggesting magical rain, " be the twinkie" he said softly, in a mystical sounding voice. "be the twinkie" he said, waving his hands up and down slowly, as if he was sending luke powers. " be, the twinkie" he repeated, pinching his middle fingers and thumbs together.
" its not working!" nearly yelled luke, sounding frustrated. Michael dropped his arms to his sides. "Well, dont force it. Just let it be." Even more Frustrated, and now annoyed, luke looked at michael. "oh, i didnt know zen was so popular amongst the dead. " he said, trying to sass michael. " oh, yeah, we are all about the parables*"michael sassed right back.
Luke sighed loudly, still holding up the twinkies in one hand. he looked down at his watch on the other wrist, " look, we are running out of time! i mean, at this rate, i am never gonna get my memories back!"
Michael rolled his eyes and started to walk away, checking out all the candy items. " i wasnt the one dragging my feet the first leg of the journey. " he suddenly gasped and darted forward, yanking a bag of candy off the shelves. He spun around and held them up for luke to see, a wide smile on his face. "Red laces!" childishly said michael.
"You cant find these anywhere!" said a blue haired michael as he ripped open the bag. " oh..." said luke, not understanding what was so great about the candy. Luke looked up and around, noticing it was dark outside. He followed michael to the counter.
"im beginning to think this party is a bad idea." Cautiously stated luke, still following michael. " of course you are. you are you." Michael said, his turn sounding annoyed. Luke raised his voice slightly, wanting to get his opinion and point out to michael. "I mean, what do we know about this person?"
As michael passed the chips isle, he snapped his hand out, snatching a bag of ruffles. " Brooke Daniels? apparently, shes a pool owner." he sassed, answering luke. He glanced over at luke, who was scrunching his face in thought, and flashed him a cheesy grin.
Luke sighed with a small groan, still following michael around the store. He paused by the window to look out, seeing the two other boys by the car. Jackson was on the left side of the car, pumping gas as he spoke over his shoulder to pete. As for pete, he was leaning against the hood sipping from a small flask, nodding and smiling as he spoke back.
"look, i mean, we are not even there yet and petes already drinking!" stated luke, lifting his hand to point out the window to show michael. at the mention of petes name, michael turned and walked over to luke. He was eating a handfull of chips, munching loudly. He shrugged, " yeah, its called pre-gaming. who wants to waste valuable socializing time getting a buzz on?"
