Brianna and Sam fell to the ground next to me and wept.
They cried words of anger and sadness. It was impossible to even comprehend what had happened last night. And to have witnessed to whole thing...
The whole thing was surreal I sat there in Aaron's arms, next to Sam and Brianna just wishing that it was all pretend. That Tarin would just walk out of the woods unscathed.
I knew that wouldn't happen but it was the only thing that gave me some little ray of happiness.
I felt bad for Aaron, he hardly knew Tarin yet he cried. But he also was going to have to put up with me. He has been so patient and loving, I felt awful for putting him through this. But, I couldn't help it, Tarin was one of my best friends.
Life would go on, but just barely, painfully and sad.
But wait. How the hell did Emily not wake up when Tarin got up?
I leapt up out of Aaron's grasp ad sprinted to their shared bedroom.
I was furious.
If Emily had just bothered to wake up as Tarin did, Tarin would still be here, here with me.
I threw open the door at the end of the hallway. The room was vacant. There was nobody there.
I heard footsteps pound up the stairs and within seconds Aaron was behind me.
There was a noise. I whipped around but Aaron shook his head, if he hasn't made that sound then what was it?
Again, I was terrified. I stepped
across the room and opened the closet. It was a big walk-in closet.
I took one step inside and as soon as my heel hit the floor I leapt back in horror and disgust.
There, lying on the floor was a writhing, bloody mass. I took a step closer and I screamed in absolute fear.
It was Emily.
She was just lying there and she started to scream as soon as she noticed me standing over her.
She screamed in horror and agony. I knelt down to help her but her scream changed. It changed into what seemed as if she didn't want me there. She shook her head violently and continued to scream. Aaron, Sam and Brianna had obviously heard this and came rushing into the room.
As Emily continued just shaking her head I knew, she knew something terrible was happening again. She was already covered in blood so I didn't know how it could get worse. But it did.
I slowly stood up and she stopped shaking her head. She wanted us out of here. As I brought my gaze away from her mangled body I looked up.
And in the corner of the closet,
he was standing there.
