"So, is this where we stop for the night then?" Austin called out a few yards ahead of us.
"Looks good!" Aaron yelled back.
"Yeah, because it's so high class out here." I mumbled under my breath.
"What?" Said Sam.
"Never mind." I said nonchalantly.
Austin had found a small clearing underneath one big tree. We made our way over to him, setting down the things we had collected from the little cabin. Including: Dried fruit, a canteen for water, two blankets, some matches and a flashlight.
It wasn't much but it was better than nothing.
Aaron started a fire and Brianna and I rolled out the blankets.
Austin and Sam got one, Aaron and I got the other. Brianna wouldn't hear of it when Aaron offered to let her have his spot. So I gave her my jacket along with hers.
Dark had fallen and the fire was starting to die down. Brianna, Aaron, Austin and Sam were all asleep.
I lie awake, not able to get comfortable. Not with this belly.
I felt a bit sick but nothing ever happened so I let it go and kept going.
Crack!
I sat up quickly.
Snap! Crack!
"A-Aaron." I whispered.
He sat up slowly and so did Sam and Austin, just in time to see themselves being taken up in arms like tentacles and brought into the darkness in the protection of the trees.
