I staggered backward, as if drunk. My head spinning. "No, not now." I thought. "Why does this always have to happen?"

I backed out if the room hardly lifting my gaze off of Eli, I reached to door and sprinted out.

As I was running I ran right into Aaron.

"What, what's going on!?... Lil!"

I was hyperventilating, could hardly breathe.

"He's back! Eli...Zach..." I panted barely audible.

"Eli and Zach are back? Where did they go?" Aaron said, speaking slowly, as if to a small child.

"Eli... Zach... Dead... Him."

And the only words I heard escape Aaron's mouth were "Help, me, God."

...

Aaron and I never really talked about religion or church very much... We went to different churches but I think generally we had the same beliefs.

But hearing him say that really made think that I really didn't know what was going on in his head at the moment and everything that was happening must just be unbearable for him.

He's lost his friends on a vacation that was supposed to be the best summer of our lives.

In a way, it was. I almost felt bad for thinking it but I think Aaron felt the same way...

There were just no words to describe the mixed feelings I was feeling.
