Just five.
Just five left.
I let that thought sink in before voicing it.
"Five." I whispered.
"What?" Said Aaron.
"Aaron, there's only five of us left."
"Yeah... I know."
"That doesn't bother you?"
"No, it does. but I just would like to try and get out of here rather than sulk in the past."
I start to cry.
"No, Lil. It's okay. We're- You're gonna be okay."
"Why did you do that?' I said nearly cutting him off
"Do what?" Said Aaron bewildered.
"You just changed 'We're' to 'You're'... What are you saying?"
"I'm saying that no matter what. You will be alright. I'd do anything to protect you."
"Aaron no-"
"Yes. I will keep you safe. It's my choice."
"Besides." he added. "There's three of you I'm responsible for. Isn't that more important than one of me?"
He kissed me on the forehead and we stood back up and we continued on our journey to nowhere.
