Chapter Four - Will Anything Ever Get Better?
(Atif's POV)
"Okay well, umm whose baby girl are you, like I'm my mother's boy she loves me most in this household. What about you, who are you most close with?"
I saw her posture tighten and her eyes drop down along her smile moving away from her face.
Was it not a good question?
"Aya-" I was beginning to say if I offended her
"My father," she replied cutting me off
"Your father?" I asked
"Yeah my father, when I was young he use to love me so much, he would take me to theme parks and many places that always excited me, it was always fun with him."
She sounded like a child replaying her old memories. But I couldn't help notice the expression she held and the choice of words she used to describe her experience.
"Do you miss it?" she whispered
"Miss what?" I questioned
"Your childhood, I'm sure you have many memories of it?"
I smiled and nodded saying "yeah I do, a lot of memories!"
I stood up and walked towards my closet. I searched through some drawers and found my childhood album and took it out taking it show Ayaat.
"Your album?" she asked her eyes sparkling with excitement
I chuckled nodding and taking a seat beside her. I showed her all the pictures replaying each memory that went with it. She was giggling and laughing and at times teasing me and my photos. This was a complete new side to her, seeing her happy made me feel so good.
After all the pictures ended she said "you were one cute child!"
I laughed asking "were? Aren't I cute anymore?"
Redness built up on her cheeks, oh she was blushing!
I didn't want her to feel awkward so I asked "what about you, don't you have a childhood album?"
Her smile dropped and she mumbled "no, I don't."
"How come? You have memories but you didn't capture them?"
She stood up and spoke "I should go check on ammi abbu, thankyou I had an amazing time!"
