Chapter Fourteen – More Unsolved Questions
(Asad - Atif's Father's Pov)
I sat on the couches with Ayaat sitting across me. I watched her face stare down onto the carpet, her fingers twirling each other. Watching her silence left me with so many questions that I couldn't understand what to ask her or where to begin.
Finally I found the courage and asked "why do you owe so much money to you father, what's the deal of divorcing my son?"
"What you may think, it's nothing like that," she responded quickly.
"What do you mean? Please explain properly," I insisted. She bit her lip and looked down perhaps afraid to tell me the truth.
"Ayaat, please tell me honestly what's wrong?"
She sighed looking up towards me and replied "I owe him so much debt because I-"
She was stopped talking as her eyes followed something behind me. I followed her gaze behind me towards the desk. Why did she stop talking?
She suddenly stood up and walked towards it, grabbing the photo frame that lay on my desk.
I stood up and walked towards her and I looked at her. There were tears built up within her eyes. I was about to ask if she was okay but she spoke first asked first "how do you know my Abbu?"
Abbu?
(Atif's Pov)
"Ammi!" I spoke walking into the kitchen
"G beta (son)," she replied.
"Assalamualikum."
"Walaikumassalam."
"How are you, how did your day go?"
"Allhumdulilah everything went well, you tell, I hope you didn't have a tough hard working day today?"
"Nah Ammi it was an alright day today."
"Ammi, where is Ayaat?"
"I think I saw her and Asad heading to the study."
"Why is she there?" I questioned
"I don't know, you can go and ask her yourself?"
"Alright then," I replied.
I walked up the stairs and towards his study and looked through the door.
