Chapter Three – Let's Play A Game
(Atif's POV)
"Umm, listen."
"Hmmm."
"Listen."
"Hmmm."
"Wake up, its morning."
"Hmmm."
"Everyone is waiting, wake up."
"Let me sleep, I'm sleepy," I mumbled placing my face into my pillow
I felt someone pat me "listen please get up."
I realized Ayaat was waking me up and I instantly got up and startled her a bit. I don't even remember when I fell asleep again.
I looked at Ayaat, she was holding a warm smile on her face and she spoke "Assalamualikum."
"Walaikumassalam."
"You should get up as everyone is waiting downstairs at breakfast."
"Okay" I replied to her and stood up.
Whilst I was getting ready I kept wondering about what Ayaat was asking in her prayer, I was never so desperate to find out something like I was now. I quickly got dressed and headed downstairs to see my family at the table. Ayaat was smiling and serving my parents. I couldn't believe this, it was a brand new day with my wife in my family. And already she is taking on all the responsibilities that a married woman should take.
"Assalamualikum," I spoke
"Walaikumassalam," everyone replied.
I sat on the table and Ayaat came over and gave me a chapatti (bread) and put some curry into my plate.
"Ayaat daughter, you sit too to eat," my mum spoke
"Yes Ammi (mother)," she replied and slid into the seat next to me.
"Today is your reception, Ayaat I want you to look so stunning therefore I have asked a beautician to come to get you dressed for tonight," my mother said to Ayaat.
"Ammi, why will you spend so much money as I can get read myself."
"No my daughter, I only have one daughter-in-law and I want you to look your best," my mother grinned
"Okay as you wish Ammi."
It was suddenly quiet at the table until my younger sister broke the silence
"Bhabhi (sister in law), I hope brother isn't annoying you?"
I shot her a death stare. Me annoy Ayaat?
Ayaat laughed and I almost choked on my food because of how graceful her laugh was.
Damn this girl was just perfect.
"No Sameena, your brother is a wonderful person," she replied.
My face was probably red hearing her complimenting me.
I cleared my throat and spoke "Samu, the only annoying person in this house is you!"
She winked at me replying "bhaiya (brother) tell me something I don't know?"
