Chapter Seventeen – I Love You

(Ayaat's Pov)

I couldn't get a moment of relief, my loneliness follows me around like a shadow. Some people run after dreams because they want to fulfill it, but some people run after darkness because their running from reality. Some people want to start all over again, from far where there are no traces of your past life. And while doing that you don't realize whether you are doing wrong or right, you simply run away from the truth.

That's what I was doing right now, running, running far away from the truth, into the darkness somewhere far away from Atif.

I looked up into his eyes and spoke the next words with a stone on my heart "I want a divorce."

His eyes widened at me in disbelief and asked "what did you say?"

I swallowed hard.

"I want a divorce," I repeated.

"THIS IS NO JOKE AYAAT, DO YOU EVEN KNOW THE MEANING OF DIVORCE, HAVE YOU GONE MADE!" He yelled.

"Atif, you said you'd do anything to make me happy, you'd go through anything for my happiness then this is it I want a divorce and that is my happiness."

"I will never give you divorce!" He growled throwing the papers onto the floor.

"You have to," I simply stated.

"Ayaat," he spoke and grabbed onto my arms "what has happened to you, have you lost your mind, are you even thinking properly, do you understand what you are asking me to do," he spoke shaking me.

I held onto his hands which where rested on my arms and pushed them away.

"Yes I understand very well that's why I am asking for a divorce."

"Just stop it Ayaat, just be quiet," he spoke pulling me into his embrace.

"Please let me go," I replied moving away from his grip.

"Ayaat, what is going on your mind, what has happened to you all of a sudden."

"I don't want to be with you, I don't want to live in this house nor do I want any relationship with you."

"Why, have I done something wrong, if I have then I plead for your forgiveness."

He fell onto his knees into pleading position and spoke "please forgive but speak of this horrid word divorce ever again."

I turned around and I knew I couldn't see him like this. Allah please help me be strong I prayed inside.
