Chapter Nine – Painful secret of Atif's life
(Ayaat's Pov)
I stood up to clean my room. I set up the bed sheets nicely and neatly on the bed and walked out towards Atif's parent's room. The door was slightly open and I could see Atif's mother resting on the bed. Her facial expression seemed as though she was upset or perhaps crying.
I knocked on the door and she looked towards me and forced up a smile saying "Ayaat, come inside."
I walked inside and took a seat beside Atif's mother.
"Is everything alright, Aami?" I asked.
She sniffed and replied "yes."
"Ammi you can tell me anything, what's bothering you, whatever it is, you can share it with me, like I'm your own child, your own daughter."
She looked at me with teary eyes and said "Ayaat you are my daughter and I have accepted you from the very depth of my heart."
"You've accepted me right so please tell me, share with me, what's wrong, why are you crying?"
"I'm just worried."
"Worried, whom are you worried for?"
"Atif"
"What do you mean, I'm not quite understanding?"
"You have seen yourself what happened yesterday, how Atif reacts with his father, how he talks to him. Yesterday was just insane he threw a vase at him, Allah prevented it from hitting him but still it was wrong of Atif to do that."
"Ammi, you're stressing for no reason, every household has some sort of quarrel, why are you taking up so much tension, Atif will better his relation I'm sure it's just a little phase everyone goes through, I'm positive after all that everything will alright."
Atif's mother stood up and walked towards her balcony door and opened it taking a step outside. I followed her. The view was just breath-taking from her room I've never been here or seen this before. I could see the beach from here. The sight was so soothing and beautiful.
I almost forgot I was standing here with Atif's mother.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?"
"Huh" I asked dumbfound.
"The view it's beautiful right," she asked me.
"Yeah it's pretty amazing," I replied.
"I was going to hand you this room after your marriage with Atif but I didn't think Atif would be ready to step foot in this room."
"Umm why is that Ammi?"
"This room, more like this balcony has a lot of painful memories attached to it."
I thought maybe it's not best to ask why perhaps this might be a personal matter.
"You said inside that I'm stressing for no reason but this is worth stressing over Ayaat, you don't understand this quarrel between them will not end as far as I have seen it will not end in any way. This happened repeatedly over and over again between both of them."
"Over and over again?" I questioned.
"Atif and Asad don't have any type bonding relation, they never get along because"
"Because why, why ammi, what is it between them?"
"Atif has never accepted Asad as his father."
"But why, what happened between them that Atif is that angry with his own birth father."
"Asad isn't Atif's birth father, his real dad passed away, he umm committed suicide."
"W-WH-WHAT?" I asked shocked.
Did I hear correctly, Atif's real father committed suicide?
"Sadly yes Ayaat you heard right, he didn't have the strength to live on, he lost in life but a horrible quality about him was he never shared his pain. He never told Atif or me of the troubles he was having in his life, he probably never thought of us as capable of sharing his pain with that he just left us all without any warning. But the most painful part is that he jumped off this balcony and Atif..." she started to sob.
"Atif, what?" I ask quickly.
"Atif, he came into this room when he jumped down."
"Ya ALLAH" I gasped
I was almost going to faint when I heard those words. I looked down below seeing the massive fall Atif's father must of taken, the challenges that this family went through would have been horrible. The death of someone is worse enough but watching someone die in front of your eyes and you not being able to prevent it, is completely the worse feeling anyone can ever go through. This was something I never expected to hear, one of the most painful secret of Atif's life.
Without any hesitation I wrapped my arms around Atif's mother and she just cried and I let her whispering to her "everything will be alright Ammi."
She let go and held my hands speaking "he is happy with you Ayaat, since you have entered his life, he doesn't remain upset like before. I want to thank you for giving my son a happy life."
"Ammi please don't say thank you, I have done nothing!"
"You have done something, he has changed but in a good way. But I just hope Allah will help him forget and let go of the past, I hope one day he will accept Asad as his father."
"Yes Ammi, he will IN SHA ALLAH, one day he will accept him and let his past go," I replied.
I thought to myself no matter what will happen I will better Atif and his father's relation, I will take away his pain and be his support forever.
