Chapter 2 Locket

" A NECKLESS A FREAKING NECKLESS?!!? that's what we've been hauling our asses for 3 fucking hours for? That's why you tore me away from my friendly , warm bed and my awesome sleep that I oh so miss so much" Liz dramaticly wraps her blanket tight around her-self. I clean off the dirty Locket that I found buried under the stone, and notice that it's made of the same silver as the one on the tree. On the right side it said more French writing that i didn't really pay attention to not allowing my self to fall in the trance again i look at the left and there's a old head shot of a woman. Liz looks over my shoulder, " I don't know who that is, or why they are in that locket in the first place , but I do know that she looks a whole hell of a lot like you."  I give a agreeing nod then focus as I did last time. I read the text and examined it over and over again those words that meant nonsense even though last time my brain just decided to work after like 2 minutes, I read the words once more, pour le passé, je dois aller pour protéger l'avenir but it just wasn't clicking, "Dude What are you doing we should go to our dorm get as much sleep as we can before we have to wake up in -she checked her watch- In great, four and half hours , did you forget you have that history oral report on the revolutionary war, ring a bell?" I only half heard what liz said when it finally registered in my brain," I must go to the past to protect the future! That's what it says, haha I knew I would figure it out." Liz Takes a few steps back while I do my happy dance, "  I know you think That this is an accomplishment, but stop for a second and think, Why could you read in the first place? You don't find that weird, Especially since it sounds like Yoda said it ? " If I would have thought about Liz's question more, I might not have  been so naive, but I didn't think a lot I was a bit distracted by the pull from the clear blue and aqua oval that circulated in the air, sucking us in like a whirlpool. Liz and I reached for the tree to hang on to, but it had disappeared. I felt like I was a falling down the rabbit hole except that I wasn't falling downward, there weren't any pianos or any other objects for that matter just a lot of spinning all I could see was blue and aqua going around and around, but I did however did end up in a strange place. After feeling What felt like waking up from a nap in the middle of the day, I saw Liz next to me with the same confused expression, I try to have a sigh of relief because I at least still had my best friend with me, but failed at breathing I look down and see that we were both in very uncomfortable corsets where I could barely move which sucked, but then I see Liz moving her dress skirt around and spinning playing with the ruffles," Oh no It's messed with your brain already I don't know how long I have before it affects me , farewell my friend farewell." Liz stops and looks at me," I like the dress and I want to focus on the positive since I have no IDEA WHERE THE HELL WE ARE DO YOU? CAUSE WOULD BE HELPFUL RIGHT ABOUT NOW" I put my hands in front of me in a defensive position," It looks like we'er in an alley somewhere that smells like shit okay, so calm down and don't go she hulk alright?" Liz's face turns red(like it does with every emotion) her green eyes stood out so much it looked like she was wearing Christmas themed makeup," DO NOT TELL ME TO CALM DOWN!! I AM PERFECTLY CALM I JUST WOULD LIKE TO KNOW ,HOW WE GOT HERE AND A MORE ACCURATE DESCRIPTION OF WHERE WE FUCKING ARE!!" I motion my arms up and down," Breath in, breath out, okay? we might not know where we are but I do know that if you keep shouting and cursing, we will attract unwanted attention, now we are gonna leave the alley,but act natural, like we know exactly what we're doing and where we'er going, and look for a clue to where we are okay?" Liz nods silently knowing that I had a point and followed behind me. We leave the alley, and I was prepared to scan everything with my eyes quickly, I close them as we begin walking so I wouldn't have to blink for a while, but right when we pass the wall blocking our sight ,Liz blurts trying to sound calm, holding  back excitement before I can open my eyes, " We are in England Claire, we are in London, England " I smile without my brain fully processing what was happening,"You did always want to go to Europe and now you don't need to study abroad for a year." Liz gives me the Seriously-not-the-point-at-all look," Claire I'm gonna talk to you slowly, because you seem to not be getting it okay? Good now a few minutes ago we were in America, then some weird shit happened and now we are where? Your turn to answer"  I look down in shame," In London ." Liz nods " Yes London do you know how that happened?" Liz was beginning to bug me so I tried to change the subject," Hey how did you we're in London anyway, I don't see Big Ben?" Ready to tell me to stop changing the subject Liz opens her mouth, but no sound came out we both got distracted," EXTRA EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT WE OFFICIALLY SURRENDER!! COST JUST TEN PENCE FOR THE ENTIRE COPY!!" We walk over to the boy who could not have been older than eleven years old," Could I see that please?" The boy looks at me strangely," You talk funny, and you can read just first page for free but the rest ten pence, and you get to keep the whole thing" I look at Liz and we have a best friend telepathic moment, do you have any money seems like the kid's starving  Liz responds ,No but he's a kid what can we do? With no money and no food? I shake my head, No one problem at a time first we take care of ourselves then the rest okay?  Liz nods,"how about we look at  the front page first then see if we find it interesting enough to buy" The naive boy gives the front page to us the Headline reads: " General Cornwallis formally surrenders to the colonists at Yorktown On October 16 !!" Liz tries reading more but then something caught my eye," Hey look at the date" I say in a low voice so that the boy or anyone else would hear, the date read:"December 2  1781"  I give the paper to the boy,"  no thank you I've just realized that I left all my money at home, sorry" We tried hiding our panicked face," Okay don't know why or how but we have gone back in time, no more interactions with anyone let's just go find an alley or a place where no one can see us or hear us and then all we have to do is find out how to get back to our time period alright let's do this thing " I hold on to the locket tightly on my hand and keep on babbling even though I could hear Liz talking in the back-round, but I really didn't pay any attention to it until I heard,"WATCH OUT!!"
