The loud gunshot still rang in my ears when I forced myself to open my eyes I saw on the bridge that we were missing one person there on the bridge was Nathan, Liz, and a horrified Alexander. We all look over the bridge to see Catherine in the shallow now redwater her purple dress was now stained red and the wound began to bleed more and more. Alexander's eyes turned green along with his hands, feet, knees soon his entire body was just a glowing green outline of him he began to melt the stone bridge until he melted through it completely he fell into the creek and ran to catherine he held her close when he grabbed her he let out a scream so pain ridden, so full of anguish it made us all sob, as he screamed for his fallen wife a giant wave of green encircled us like a force field surrounded us, Alexander wept over Catherine's body and stroked her hair.
**Alexander**
"No, no, NO! Catherine no" I said to her ,
"you can get through this you have lived through worse things than this, "
she looked at me with pity," There is nothing to be done my love, the bullet is laced with belladonna you know there is no surviving this as well as I do" She puts her hand on my cheek,
"There must be something you can do, how can I live if the air I breathe is dying, how can I ever be content again if you are not by my side, how can I go back to a life where you're not in it?
"You mustn't think that way my dear, you shall be happy again I can see it," She began to glow violet all over I knew the change was occurring.
" Before I leave you please promise me, do not be alone be happy, do not view my death as a tragedy, but as my happy departure from a complicated life,"
"Happy? What about life we were going to have with each other? All the things we were going to do? The people we were going to save?"
Catherine gives me a half smile," You will still save people just without me, you were never supposed to have that with me, however you shall have that with an another, someone you have not yet met you will love her tenfold and cherish your time together you will try to run from it, but you mustn't, you must allow yourself to fall in love with her and you will love her ten times as much as you love me only when you let your love for her envelop you will a power unknown to the world be created, only when you are happy will I be at peace, your love for her and her love for you shall be your salvation,-she stopped glowing violet her vision had foretold a prophesy, her time on Earth was about to end-" Will you promise me that you will let yourself love again, so that I can die in peace?" she said with her last breath.
I knew I couldn't deny my wife's last death wish, yet at the moment that seemed impossible for me to love another that could never happen she will alway be the love of my life,
" I will try but a life without you is no life at all"
"You will soon find out that a life without me is-" She coughed up blood and gasped, " I love you" her final words had come to a close. I felt the anger beginning to bubble and overpower my grief I looked at Nathan daring to shed a tear for the one he killed this drove me mad, his smug face it brought back the heinous image of him smiling after slaughtering my family, I can only imagine that Nathan must be smiling now having killed the last person I had to confide in. My brain could only think of one thing; Hate.
**Claire**
Catherine went limb and Alexander released a cry of anguish, a circle of neon green acid surrounded him and Catherine as he cried into her shoulder. Then he stopped, he gently placed her body in the water and rose. He went into a fit of rage his eyes went green again, He threw a ball of acid into the air and screamed he ran his hands violently through his hair whispering something to himself. Out of nowhere, he just stopped, he was quiet, no feeling no emotion, nothing. He walked out of the creek and gestured to us to follow him. He lead us into the forest. Completely silent after all that screaming and all that pain, he was just silent. We had arrived at a clearing of trees in the forest and Alexander finally spoke, " You shall go cut some firewood" he said to Nathan, " Miss Elizabeth you shall help Claire set up the campsite we shall rest here for the night i am not strong enough to travel, I shall return promptly" He then just left leaving us with an ax and a rucksack he brought with him. Nathan picked up the ax and went to follow the order he had this look on his face one so pale it seemed as though he had never seen death before which couldn't be true he was a soldier he fought in the revolutionary war he must've seen death.
" Hey Nathan are you doing all right?" I asked he gave no answer just looked at me and went back to his chore. Liz just looked at me and shrugged her shoulders I went up to her,
"Hey liz I'm gonna check up on Alexander be right back"
"No, he just lost his wife you need to give that guy some space"
"It'll be fine he's really in pain and might need someone to be there for him right now like how I had you when my parents died,"
" Please be careful and don't get lost I have a feeling that they have terrible reception here."
I nodded and was on my way. I eventually caught up with Alexander it had begun to rain and he was sitting under a tree by a stream near the clearing, I saw him there weeping quietly to himself just staring out to the water. The feeling of pity fell over me I could couldn't help but began to cry myself, my sobbing seemed to alert him, he turned his head said nothing and turned back to the water. I forced myself to stop crying and walked to him I sat down of the wet grass next to him and we just stared at the water as the little drizzle turn into strong, pouring rain Alexander looked at me, I opened my mouth to say something he puts his hand over mine and says,
"The world is noisy, full of inconsiderate loud people. Selfish people who want to be heard so they scream over one another. They scream and shout and bang things together just so that people with notice their vanity. No one appreciates silence. Silence is beautiful, silence is healing, silence is what the world needs after a loss, silence saved me,she was my silence. How can I live in such a clamorous world without my refuge of silence? My refuge, where I went to escape this tumultuous realm of rancor. She would make all the noise disappear, we were the only ones who mattered, she silenced my pain"
He covered his face and sobbed once more,
"Oh God! My beautiful silence is gone! She cannot save me, I am alone, all alone in this loud world that never SHUTS UP!! GIVE ME A MOMENT OF PEACE! PLEASE, please, please" he sobbed again,
I put my hand on his back and try to see if I can comfort him he just continues to look at the water. The way he spoke with such sadness a sadness I had known when I lost my parents. A sadness which made me silent, I just wished that Alexander wouldn't be silenced too. He was right though silence was beautiful, silence was healing, silence was gone.
