Chapter 12

(Christy's POV)

I wake up to the smell of bacon and eggs. I suddenly felt hungry.

I walk out into the kitchen and I see Adam cooking on the stove.

"Good morning." I said as I stood at the doorway.

"Morning. I made some eggs and bacon for us." He said without turning around.

"Thank you." I took a seat at the dining table as Adam walked over with the two plates.

"I got a call from NBC this morning and they know about us. They know something is going on between me and you. They want me to either stop our relationship or kick you off of my team by the next round." Adam confessed.

"I don't want to end our relationship." He added after a few seconds of silence.

"Kick me off the show." I said after thinking about it for awhile.

"I can't do that. I don't want to do that. I know how much winning means to you." He said looking me in the eyes.

"But it's worth it when I'm with you." I replied bravely. "Just promise me that I'll be gone by the next round."

"Are you sure about this?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Yes." I nodded.

"Here, let me clean up." I said reaching over for the plates.

"By any chance, do you want to go grocery shopping with me?" He asked while standing up.

"Okay, since there's nothing I need to do after this."

After cleaning up, I got dressed and met Adam out in the front at his car.

The drive to the market was quick and short.

We grabbed a cart and started scavenging for groceries.

"I'll go get some tomatoes and you can get the apples." I suggested.

"Okay, I'll be over there if you need me." Adam pointed to the section of apples.

I walked over to the tomatoes and I see someone familiar. As I walked closer, I got a better look at who it was.

Shit. It's Ryan.

I quickly changed my route and walked in the other direction, hoping he hasn't seem me yet.

"Christy!" I heard him call after me.

No, not now. I don't want to be in this situation right now. I really wanted to just run to the door and leave. At least I didn't want this to happen in front of Adam.

I didn't turn around. Ryan turned me around.

"What do you want?" I asked him.

"Look, I'm sorry about what happened last time. But maybe we can start over, you know?" He said.

I didn't trust him at all, not after what had happened. No matter how he'll persuade me and no matter how he'll talk me into it, I will never go back.

"No. Just leave me alone, Ryan." I replied. I don't want to cause a scene here. Not at a market.

"C'mon. Give one more chance." He pleaded.
