Chapter 23

(Christy's POV)

The plane ride from New Orleans back to Los Angeles went by pretty quick. I had fell asleep for the first half of the ride and spent the other half on my laptop.

The plane landed shortly after 9:30 am Los Angeles time.

I retrieved my luggage at the carousel and headed outside to get a taxi. It turns out that my taxi driver's name is Louise and she watches The Voice and she was actually a really huge fan.

As soon as I got home, I threw all my clothes into the washing machine and fell asleep for the rest of the day. I was so tired. I don't even know why. It may be from the jet lag, or it might be from the pregnancy stuff.

I ended up waking up the next morning, but it was my body that told me to wake up not my mind. I felt the acidic liquid come up from my throat into my mouth. As my first reaction, I ran to the toilet, lifting up the toilet seat and holding my hair away from my face. I was puking. I knew this would be happen.

I read online that during the first 6 or 7 weeks of pregnancy, there would be morning sickness.

My throat was burning and my mouth tastes gross. It was already 8:15, so I decided to brush my teeth and get the day started, knowing that I won't be able to get back to sleep.

At around 9:30, I got into my car and headed to work. I signed in at the front desk and proceeded to change into my uniform.

I needed to find Jason today. I need to get things cleared with him. I could still clearly remembered the look of disappointment in his eyes when I was still in the hospital after the accident.

Half the day went by without any sign of Jason anywhere. On a normal day, I would usually see him around, but today was different.

I spent half the day going from room to room checking up on patients and making sure everything was okay, giving them their dosage of medications.

"Hey, Alli." I said as I waked past the front desk before noon.

"Hi! Haven't seem you in a long time. I heard about the engagement. Congratulations! Let me see that ring of yours." She said in return, smiling.

"Thanks." I smiled, showing her the ring Adam proposed to me with a few days ago.

"It's beautiful." She said, looking at it. "How are you feeling?"

"I'm feeling better. Fully recovered now." I said, leaning over the counter.
