The Man Who Never Lied:

Chapter 4

As we got back to Adam's house, I decided to get my purse and head home, because I can't stand to be in a room with Adam knowing that the paparazzi can catch us together.

I had work anyways so I had a good excuse to leave.

"I have to go now. I have work today." I said as I was slowly walking towards the door.

"I'll drive you there. It's at least a 20 minute walk and I can't imagine what can happen to a beautiful woman like you walking alone in the streets of Los Angeles." He said as he looked into my eyes with sincerity.

I couldn't resist his puppy dog look, but I really don't want to be caught by the paparazzi again. "Okay, but this is the last time that you'll be able to give me a ride anywhere. But I'll need a disguise."

At first Adam had a heartbroken look when I told him that he won't be able to drive me anymore. Then he had a mischievous smirk on his face as if he thought of an idea for my disguise.

"Here come, I have the perfect disguise." He said as he walked into a closet in the hallway with me right behind him.

He pulled out a blonde wig and some sunglasses out of a drawer. "Put these on. No one will know that it's you. Then after you walk into the bakery, take it off and throw it away."

He helped me put on the hideous disguise and grabbed my arm and led me to his car.

5 minutes later, I arrived at the front of the bakery.

We both sat in silence in his car.

He turned to face me and I mirrored his movement, facing him.

"Well, I guess this is it." I said knowing this may be the end to our relationship. As I said that phrase, I instantly regretted it.

"Until next time." He said as his hands reached over to touch mines and place a soft kiss on it.

I couldn't stand the tension in the car anymore. So I decided to leave it as is. "Bye Adam." I said as I got out.

I walked to the front door of the bakery and Adam called my name.

"Christy! Remember you have rehearsals in two days!" He said through the rolled down window.

I nodded, at my lack of words, not really knowing what to reply. With that, I walked into the bakery to work.

The day dragged by, with Adam in my mind all day. The thought of us not being able to be together broke my heart. I really thought we had a chance. But I guess it was all a dream that I knew would never happen.

I grew up as a nerdy girl who was never good with boys and relationships. But I thought Adam and I could happen.

I had to put that aside for now and concentrate on my life and the Voice right now.

At the end of my shift, I decided I go for a coffee run at my friend's coffee shop. I would always sit down at a table there for hours to think clearly about anything. It was a place where I can relax at. It was only 3 o' clock so she should still be working there.

It took me about 5 minutes to walk there and as I got in, the smell of coffee was so rich and it instantly made me smile.

My phone buzzed in my purse and I checked it to see 3 missed calls from my brother, Aaron.

So I decided to text him and ask what's up.

I looked around for my friend Natalie. I spot her wiping a table at the back of the cafe.

"Natalie!" I shouted as I received weird looks from the customers.

"Hey, what brings you here?" She said wrapping her arms around me in a warming hug.

"I can't pay my friend a visit or what?" I replied jokingly.

"We need to catch up on a lot of things." She said dragging me to a small mahogany table. "So how's the Voice going?"

As she mentions the voice, thoughts of Adam comes up.

"It's great!" I lied. Not bothering to bring the subject up.

"Really. Tell me. What's bothering you?" She said as if reading my mind. She knows me too well.

"It's a long story, Nat." Trying to stray away from the topic.

"I've got plenty of time, girl." She gestured a worker to come over. It was the guy that I always found cute. I had always admired him when I came here. The way his brown hair is gelled and the way his shirts always fits him perfectly has always amazed me.

"Yeah?" He said as he looked over to me with a smile.

"Can you get a caramel frappacino without whipped cream for Christy." Nat said.

"Sure." He replied and walked back behind the counter to make the drink.

I checked my phone and received a text from Aaron.

It said ' where are you at?'

I replied back 'I'm at the cafe near my apartment.'

An hour later, I returned home to find that Aaron had came over for dinner.

A/N So, this chapter was kinda boring... The next chapter will be better! Something juicy is gonna happen!
