The Move

I was finally packing the rest of my things in my suitcase when my mom started to yell for me.  I couldn't believe I was leaving Malibu, California for a small town in Texas.  I was looking forward to my junior and senior year of high school, on the beach.

"Katie, we have to go.  Get finished and get out to the car."  My mom yelled up the stairs.

I was sad to be leaving my home.  I was nervous to be going to a new school, but I was happy to be seeing my dad.  I knew he was happy to get to see me.

When I got out to the car, I saw my mom sitting in the front seat of the old chevy.  I don't look or act like her at all.  She has dark brown hair with blue eyes that sparkle.  I have dirty blonde hair with dirt brown eyes.  She is the type of person who looks at all of the consequences and I am the type of girl who jumps right into decisions.  I definitely look and act like my dad.  That is probably why he left her; she is just too cautious, but I love her anyway.

When I get into the car she asks me if I really want to go.  I tell her yes, that it could be a good experience, meeting new people.  I get on the plane without looking back. I say goodbye to the beach, the ocean, and the wonderful people that I once knew.

There were not very many people on the plane just yet.  My dad said that he was going to send someone on the plane to fly with me.  The only problem was, I didn't know who the person was or what the person looked like.

"Would you mind if I sit here?"  A guy behind me asked.

"Ummm... Yeah... Sure.  I don't mind."  I said trying not to stare.

He had dark brown hair and beautiful tan skin. His eyes were brown.  They almost looked black.  He looked like someone my dad has taken pictures of, but I could put a finger on it.

"So, do you remember me, Katie?"  He asked like he has known me for years.

"No, but I feel like I should remember you from somewhere,"  I said not looking for fear he would notice.

"Yes, well your dad knows me.  My name is Kevin.  He sent me to fly with you."

"Oh, my word!  You are the little boy that was always with my dad and his friend."

"Yeah.  Well, I believe that I am just a little bigger now."  He said moving he hand in a sweeping motion down his body.  I tried really hard not to stare.

"I would say so.  It is really nice to see you, Kevin."  I said staring out the plane window.

"How have you been Katie?  You are all your dad ever talks about."  He said stealing my attention.

"I'm doing good."  I knew I was blushing.

We talked a bit longer, and I stopped talking so I could get some sleep.  Sometime during the flight, I must have drifted off because I woke up to him laughing his full head off.

"What's so funny?"  I asked.

"Nothing.  Someone just said something really funny.  Anyway, we're here."  He said with a smirk.

"Oh okay.  So is my dad picking us up?"  I asked rubbing the sleep out of my eyes.

"No.  I am old enough to drive."  He said grabbing my hand, and walking out to his car.

"Wait!  He trusts you that much?"  I asked trying to keep up the pace with him.  He was walking fast enough to where his legs were much farther ahead of mine.  I let go of his hand and watched as he stopped dead in his tracks.

"What's the matter?" He asked with a dumbfounded look.

"Well let's just say that your legs may be twenty feet long, but mine is ten inches.  You were walking way to fast for me."

"You were staring at my legs?"  He asked with a smirk that would make a nun blush.

"So, it's not like I was staring at your ass.  Jeez!"  I said as we walked out to his car I figured we would walk to a beat up ford, but nope we walked right up to a nice Chevy Camaro.  I was shocked to see that his father would buy him an expensive car like this for his first car.

"Is there a problem?" He asked placing my bags in the back seat of his car.

"Nope.  I was just admiring the car."  I said opening the passenger door.

We both got into the car and he put his hand on my leg.  At first, I wanted to slap it away, but soon it started to feel natural.

"So, do you like the trip so far, Katie?  I mean you will be here for two years."  He said breaking all of my annoying thoughts.

"Yes, I am loving it.  I'm really excited to see my father.  I mean it's been forever.  I know most girls get mad because their father leaves them high and dry with their mom, but in all reality, I think that it was what was best for the family.  They were two different kinds of people, and they were just going to fight all the time anyway."  I said brushing my hair out from in front of my face.

We were silent the rest of the way to the house I was going to call home.  When we finally stopped in front of the all familiar house, Kevin helped me carry my bags in.

"Hey, Dad!  Where are you?"  I asked, happy I was finally home.

"Hey, sweetheart!  How are you?  You have grown up haven't you.  We need to catch up."  He said giving me a big hug.

"Well, first I have to unpack.  I thought you had to work anyway."  I said stepping to the sink to get a nice cold drink of water.

"Yeah, it's my lunch break, so I figured I would come and see you."

"You better get back to work.  We can eat dinner and talk tonight.  I have to unpack now, though.  Bye and love you.  See you when you get home. "

"Okay, darlin'.  See you tonight."

"Okay bye."

I walked up to the room that Kevin left a trail to.  When I got there I was very surprised by how big my room was.  Kevin was sitting on my bed next to all of my bags.  I walked over and sat down.

"So I just want to thank you for helping me.  There were quite a few bags."  I say putting my hand on his knee.

"Well, what else can I do to help?"  He said.

"Help me... unpack.  I would really appreciate it."  I said coming up some reason to keep him here with me.

"Okay, only because of the sundress, though,"  He said running his hand up my leg to the hem of the dress.

I jumped up so that it couldn't go too far.  I wanted to stay in control.  I turned around to grab one of my bags and he kissed me.  So much for control.  I pulled him closer, and I couldn't help it, instinct kicked in and I pushed everything off the bed.  When he laid me down we didn't break contact.  It felt nice to finally get to touch a man.  He broke contact and I just laid there for a while.  I wanted him, but in all reality, I had just met him.

"Wow, I'm so sorry.  When I pulled you closer it was just natural to lay down.  I really like you, Kevin."  I so flushed, but he wasn't even phased.

"Yes, well, we both want something, but we are just going to have to wait."  He said as he walked away and we put my things away.  I said goodbye to him and my dad came home.

I stayed up longer and talked to him, then I told him it had been a long day and that I should probably go to bed.  I fell asleep trying to push the thoughts of Kevin out of my head.

*This is what I think that Katie would look like!
