Katie's POV
"Dad?" I whispered. I burst into tears and ran to him.
"Why didn't you tell me, Katie?" He asked squeezing me.
"I didn't know how. I'm so sorry."
"You should have told me," he said holding me tight.
"Are you mad? Do you hate me now?" I asked.
"What? No never. I could never hate you, sweetheart. You are my world and I will do anything to make you feel better," he letting go of me. "Now how did this start between the two of you? How did I not know?"
"Well, we went to the store together first and then you are gone all of the time."
"Do you love her?" This time, the question was directed at Kevin.
"Yes, but I can't say the same for her to me."
I looked at him, but I couldn't keep my eyes. His eyes looked so hurt, and I couldn't stand to see him that way.
"Katie, is that true?" He asked.
"Let's just say he hasn't been the most faithful boyfriend in the world."
"You cheated on her?"
"Well, I-" He started to say something, but my dad cut him off.
"Yes or no?" My dad asked.
"Yes," Kevin said and he dropped his eyes to the floor.
"Do you expect her to forgive you?"
"No... Not even close. I still love her, though, and I will until the day I die," he said keeping his eyes on me.
"Kevin, can't you just move on?" I asked, this time, knowing it hurt him me saying that. I couldn't go on loving him, but I didn't want to hurt him.
"No... and I don't expect you to understand. I mean you have already moved on to that thing out there," He said sitting down in the chair.
"Whatever, Kevin. You know what that thing out there helped me when you weren't there to," I said standing up to walk out the door.
"I'm sorry! How many times do I have to say it?" He asked as we walked out the parking lot. Damion was standing by his car and he started to walk over.
"Don't even come near me. I know it was you to told my father," I said forgetting all about Kevin and his mistakes. I didn't want to focus on that right now.
"He deserved to know."
"How do you know that I wasn't going to tell him?" I asked.
"I just knew you weren't."
"HOW???!!!" I yelled. "If you you're hiding something from me, you might as well tell me now, before I find out from someone else."
"Fine, but you can't get freaked out."
I started to get nervous as he pulled me into his car. Kevin and my father left, and I knew that they had something to do with this.
"The world isn't as normal as it may seem."
"What are you talking about? I knew the world wasn't normal."
After I said that, he touched my hands. Just as he touched them, and yellow lights started to glow. I started to think that it was just electricity, but I knew it was something else.
"What was that?" I asked not looking at him.
"I was going to tell you sooner, but I didn't want your dad to get mad at me. You are from a very big line of people," He said as he grabbed my hand again. This time, the lights glowed blue.
I snatched my hands away and he looked at me dumbfounded. I wasn't going to let him touch me again. I didn't even know what it was to begin with.
"What does that mean?" I asked. Was he related to me? I hope not. Not with the way I used to think of him, but as of right now I couldn't get his lights out of my head.
"You are special. That is why Kevin likes you so much."
"What? No way, that is why you like me so much. I just want to be alone," I said crossing my arms.
"You're a faerie," he said before I got out of the car.
Now I couldn't leave, obviously. I had to figure out what the heck a faerie was. I thought it was like tinker bell, but obviously not.
"What the heck is a faerie?"
"A magical creature that stops growing old once you turn a certain age. I understand that this a lot to take in, so I suggest that you take all the time that you need."
"Okay, so I am a magical creature that will stop growing old. Am I right?" I asked giving him the big eyes.
"Yes, you are right."
"Okay, so what are you?" I asked staring at my hands.
"I am also faerie, but a different blood line. My family mixed with vampires at least three hundred years ago, and that is why Kevin wanted me to stay away from you."
"Why?" I asked getting frustrated because there was so much he was leaving out.
"Vampires and Faerie do not get along very well. Vampires have been known to hurt faeries. I would never hurt you, though," he said.
"How do I know that?" I asked backing away from his touch.
"Have I hurt you yet? I have known who you were for a long time. I just wanted to wait for your father to tell you."
"Why didn't he?" I asked confused.
"I don't know, but maybe I should just take you home."
"Okay. Just so you know, I feel like I am in the Twilight saga."
"No... we are nothing like that. The only thing with us, vampires, is that we only drink blood, and we try to stay away from an area for too long. Plus, as one gets older he or she gets stronger."
"Oh, what about faeries?" I asked getting more interested.
"Well, your father is the oldest faerie I know. Do you know old he really is?" He asked me like I would really know.
"No... I just figured out what the heck my whole family has been hiding from me my whole life," I said looking at him.
"Well, then your dad will have to tell you the rest."
"Okay." I nodded my head and just stared out the window the rest of the ride home. I was nervous to hear what I really was. This should be fun. I also still had to talk to Kevin. Was Kevin hiding secrets too? The rest of my life was going to suck. At least I graduate in a couple of days. Crap, I graduate in a couple of days.
