A Disaster

*Three months later

Katie's POV

I had to get around to go to the doctors today to make sure that everything was going okay.  They told me that there were some problems that didn't seem right to them, but they didn't know what it was.  I was nervous, but Damion offered to take me.  

I still hadn't told my dad about the baby.  I was just going to wait until after today.  

"Katie, are you ready?"  Damion asked walking into the room. 

"No... but yes."  I grabbed his hand and we walked into the hospital.  

We checked in and he held my hand to the whole time.  Damion and I have started to grow very close, but he is also very distant at the same time.  He won't share very much about himself with me, and always seems edgy when his family is around.  I try to ignore it, but it is hard to.  

The doctor came in and smiled at us both.  I just looked at the ground, mostly because I was ashamed at what had happened.  We decided that we shouldn't go to the doctors in town because they all knew my father.  

"So your blood work shows that there are some complications.  We are going to do some tests to get more information, but we have to inform you that he or she may not make it,"  the doctor said as she read the note on the paper. 

"What?  That doesn't make since.  I have been doing everything that I am supposed to.  Why?"  I burst into tears.  

"Katie, we are trying to figure out why, but we can't seem to find a reason.  I'm so sorry."

"Oh just shut up!  I am so sick and tired of hearing people say they are sorry when they really don't care!"  I yelled.  I felt Damion get up and walk over to me. 

Damion's POV

I waved the nurse out of the room and held her tight.  I didn't know how it felt to lose a baby, but I knew how it felt when I saw her cry.  It killed me.  I mouthed sorry to the doctor as she walked out, and she understood. 

"Why?" She asked as she shook in my arms.  

"I don't know, but we should text Kevin,"  I said not really wanting to, but he deserved to know what was going on with his baby.  

"You're right,"  She got her phone out and called him.  

He answered on the first ring like he was sitting there waiting for her to call. 

"Katie, what's going on?"

"Can you come to the hospital, please?"

"Yeah, of course.  What's going on?"  I heard him ask her again. 

"When you get here I will tell you."  She hung up and hugged her knees again. 

She looked at her stomach like he or she was still in there and said, "I loved you and then I lost you.  I never even got to see you."

I heard Kevin come in and he asked where we were.  He walked in and saw me.  I gave him a look that said that this was not the time to hassle her about why I was here and not him.  He nodded and got down on his knees.  

"Katie?"  He said as he moved her hair out of her eyes. 

"We lost the baby..."  She said her eyes brimmed with red. 

"What?  How?"  He asked and took her in his arms.  She didn't reject she just cuddled with him. 

"Damion, can you give us a moment?"  she asked looking up at me.  I should have listened to my family.  She was never going to let him go.  Especially now. 

Katie's POV

I became more aware of Damion's presence one Kevin got here.  I knew that he thought Kevin and I were never going to get over each other, and I didn't know if he was wrong or not.  I didn't want to love Kevin, but I couldn't help, but forgive him time and time again.  I guess you could call me insane.

"Katie, you do realize that I didn't mean to hurt you ever.  I haven't said anything to her since that night that you told me we were over," he said rubbing my arms up and down.  

"No, you just wait until we start dating to touch her and talk to her.  Why?"  I asked looking up into his eyes.

"I don't know.  I'm dumb I guess."  He said getting up and walking around.  My eyes followed him around and he looked up and smirked.  I looked down and blushed.  

"I know how you feel about me, Katie."  

"How do I feel about you?  Right now I just really wanna go and not think about this."

I was numb right at the moment, and I could never talk to my father about it.  It was literally between Kevin, Damion, and I.  That was the most heartbreaking part.  I know where my heart is, but my brain is saying to stay with Damion.  

"I know you still love me, Katie.  I just need to get you to realize that I won't hurt you again."

"Whatever... I just need to get out of here before I get in trouble with my dad."  

Just as I said that my father walked in.   Oh boy!
