"Alex get your sorry ass out of that bed!" Jamie calls from the entrance to my room. How did she even get in here? "It's been two weeks, Alex. Two full weeks of you doing nothing, and tonight that's gonna change!" She now yells even louder. What is her problem. I flip the pillow over the top of my head hoping she would get the point. I guess not.
The blankets are suddenly flown off my body and placed on the floor. "What do you want me to say, Jamie! That I'm exhausted? That I'm heartbroken? I spent 7 months in a relationship that was a complete lie! How am I suppose to get over that in a couple of weeks?" I scream, letting the tears start to break through my eyes. Instead of responding the way I figured Jamie comes and lays beside me on the bed. "I know Alex, I know." She spoke softly as I let the noise from my sobs contain the room once more.
Jamie and I have been friends since 2nd grade, without her I'm not sure my heart could have survived this long. I love my best friend and would do anything for her just as I'm sure she would do for me. This problem however, is not one she knows how to fix. We both lay there on my bed for a while waiting for the tears to once again stop. When my eyes finally began to dry Jamie speaks, " I was thinking we could go out tonight? I know you are probably going to turn me down once again but just hear me out!" Like I really have an option.
"I have let you stay in this house for weeks now crying over something you can't change, now its time for me to make a change! There is a party tonight at one of the houses near the beach and I seriously think we need to go." How am I going to talk myself out of this one? I don't feel like walking to my kitchen nothing less going to a party.
"Jamie, I love you for caring and all but a party it not going to help anything." I say softly. She glares out the window trying to hold back her tone I'm sure. "I'm not leaving this house without you, Alex. Not again. Either you stop feeling sorry for yourself and come with me, or I will just stay here for as long as it takes." I can tell her irritation was starting to grow, until I finally gave in. "Fine." I spoke.
Jamie then excitedly pulled me from the bed, bringing me to the front of my closet. "Now the hard part is just deciding what to wear! Since its on the beach I would go with this one!" Jamie pulls out a dress I don't even remember buying. It's a low cut and very short plain black dress. I'm actually pretty sure it still had the tag on it. "Jamie what in the world! There is no way I can wear that!" My squeal makes her laugh causing me to crack up with her. "Listen Alex, I have to get home and change myself so how about I pick you up at 8, and we can ride together?" Jamie says laughter still evident in her voice. "Sure, see you then!" And with that Jamie left just as abruptly as she appeared.
