As soon as the door shut I looked down at the dress now in my hands. I honestly can't remember the last party I went to, and if I was with Asher I knew I didn't want to remember it. Looking in the mirror I then lost all hope of a good night. There was going to be no helping the mess of hair on my head. I decided I would wear the dress, I mean what's the worse that could happen, and Jamie did pick it out. I then looked at the clock realizing it was already 7:15, and decided to apply what little makeup I could find, and straighten the now curly hair I had. When done I picked up my phone and decided to check my messages. I hadn't realized how long I actually had been avoiding people until I saw my inbox. 12 new messages most of which from my parents, and my sister, but one caught my eye. It was from him. The message read: "Baby we need to talk about this." Talk about what? How you broke my heart? How you made me reconsider every decision I have made for the last 7 months? How crushed and alone I feel now? There was going to be no talking from me. As far as I know Asher Brooks is no longer in existence. I deleted the message and threw my phone down in the bag I had set out to wear with my dress. Now looking at the clock I realized it was 8:00, as I began walking to the door I heard a knock and saw Jamie waving excitedly threw the window. Well if I wasn't going to have a good time, at least she was. We both walked out onto the street and piled into her car. The beach was at least a 30 minute drive from my apartment. On the way Jamie talked about her summer plans with her boyfriend Josh, and how both of our final grades turned out. Jamie and I both attended NYU majoring in Literature, we had both wanted to go there since we were little and just getting accepted was like a dream come true for the both of us. Soon enough we were pulling up to the huge beach house decorated with solo cups, and drunken college kids. Great. Jamie and I then exited the car and walked up to the already open door. As we stepped inside the smell of alcohol took over my senses along with the loud music playing in every room. "Wow. This is something." I spoke loudly to Jamie already moving away into the crowd. "Don't be so dramatic, Alex. We came to have fun and get your mind off of...well you know. You are going to have a great time, and I'm gonna make sure of it!" And with that she handed me a red cup filled with beer.
