The Mall...CaliforniaWhen we got to the ice-skating enclosure, Christian payed for our tickets and rental skates. I was nervous about being on the ice but extremely buzzing at the same time.
"You ready for this?" Christian asked as we both put on our skates and got ready to get on the ice.
"Yeah." He led me to the ice and I immediately slipped and fell on my ass.
Fucking smooth Kate.
"You alright?" He laughed helping me up.
''Yeah."
The next hour went by pretty well. I caught on the ways of ice-skating pretty quickly with Christian's help. We had a really good time and laughed a lot at my silly mistakes. I forgot everything that was going on in my life, even the trip to Indiana. I was sure I would never forget.
We stopped skating to take break and we headed for our stuff at the top of the bleachers. When we got to the to, a piercing scream came from the far end of the rink. A crowd soon formed so I couldn't see what was happening. People were panicking and some children were crying but Christian and I just sat where we were and stared in wonder.
Not long after, a medic came and the crowd dispersed. The person that was screaming was put on a stretcher and rolled out in from of us. Blood was everywhere and it triggered past memories I would rather forget.
There was blood everywhere. She couldn't be saved now. She was dead. You couldn't even see what she had on. There was just too much blood. The red fluid was was all over my hands and my clothes it was like we were swimming in it...Whatever little hope of her surviving was gone no because all this blood was just way too much.
I shot up from my seat amd I could feel my eyes stinging with threatening tears.
"Are you okay?" Christian stood up with me and his face was covered in worry.
"Yeah. I just," I couldn't form a good enough sentence so I tried to run down from the top of the bleachers but successfully fell in the skates.
"Holy shit. Kate!" I saw Christian's blurry form running towards me. I felt a sharp pain in my ankle and I feared it was broken. I took of the skates and ran out of the enclosure with a limp before Christian could get to me.
I made the mistake of taking a right turn because the woman with the bleeding hand was still there and it seemed that the medics were having trouble containing the blood loss.
"Kate!'' I heard Christian yell my name from behind me. I turned around to see him carrying my shoes and jogging towards me. My ankle was throbbing and I couldn't move.
"All that blood?" The voice was still in my head.
"What happened?" Christian asked.
"Take me home please," I was crying now. I didn't even understand why, but I was.
"What? Okay. Let's go," he handed me my shoes and waited for me to put them on.
"What's wrong with your foot. Is it painful?"
He crouched down next to me ignoring the audience we have attracted.
''I think I twisted my ankle when I fell," I said through continuous sobs.
"Fuck. Okay. I'll carry you to the car," he lifted me and made his way to his car. He put me in the passenger seat and jogged over to his side.
"Wanna go to the hospital?"
"No I'll be fine," I said, knowing I wouldn't be.
After a few moments of silence he finally spoke. "Why did you run like that?"
"It's nothing. I'm fine."
"Kate. You can tell me anything."
That's the problem. He is getting too close.
"It's nothing really."
"I'll earn your trust one day," he muttered to himself. But I heard him clearly.
When we got to his apartment he offered to grab my bags for me and take me home. The car ride was silent except for the directions I gave him.
"I'll help you up," he said once we got there. I knew I wouldn't have been able to do it by myself so I let him help one last time.
When we got up to the porch the door was open and a loud voice came from inside. I wasn't surprised to hear Dan yelling. He does that sometimes.
"You have to pack your shit and leave my house. Now!" He yelled at someone. Christian and I paused to hear the rest of the conversation.
"Dan please don't do this. I have nowhere else to go. What will I tell Kate?" It was Jacky that he was kicking out.
"I don't give a shit what you tell her. I can't risk you breaking under pressure and telling her everything."
"I won't Daniel. I promise," her voice was shaky now. I crept into the house following their voices. I froze in shock to see Dan holding Jacky at gun point. I couldn't move, I just stood there in shock.
"No. I can't risk it. What will she think when you tell her that I turned all Carlene's evidence towards her just to save myself from being locked away for murder? And besides, teenagers favour their mother. She will definitely take your side. Call her now and tell her you're leaving."
Jacky scrambled for her phone and dialled my number. Within seconds my phone was ringing in Christian's jeans and both Dan and Jacky turned around to see us gaping at them with shocked expressions.
Hi.
So???
