Jacky's POV

Kate glared at me in horror. What she was thinking right now, probably wasn't good. I wouldn't be mad if she didn't believe me. I wouldn't be mad if she hated me more than she does now. It's up to her how she reacts to this. I shouldn't be mad if she reacts negatively. I wouldn't.

I could feel the tension building up around us. She didn't say anything after I told her I was her biological mother. She just stared. I know I said I wouldn't be mad at her reaction, but right now, I couldn't help but be mad. Why wasn't she saying anything. Why wasn't she doing anything. Right now, I would prefer her to hit me over the head with the chair than having her just glare at me like that.

I fiddled with my fingers while I waited for her to speak.

"Why?" She finally spoke. "Then why were you not-"

She was cut of by my cell phone ringing. I got it out of my pocket and saw that it was an unknown number so I ignored it.

Kate took that as her cue to carry on. But she was cut of again by my cellphone. I sighed in frustration when I saw that same number appear on my screen. This time, I switched off my phone and fixed my attention back on kate.

"I wanna go back to the house now," she said getting up.

"Don't you want to finish what you were gonna say first, then we go?" I asked.

"No," she replied and turned to walk out the door.

Fuck. Seems like all I ever do lately is upset her. I got up from the chair I was sitting on and followed her outside. I saw her facing the car with her face buried in her hands. I stood there awkwardly just staring at her. I didn't know what to do. I just wish I could have told her earlier, maybe she wouldn't be so upset about it.

"Please open the car and let's go," she asked through tears. I did as she asked and we both go it the car. The ride home was silent. Not even the radio was on. Kate wouldn't even look at me. She just stared outside her window.

As much as I would like to blame Daniel for this mess, I also know most of it was my fault. I shouldn't have allowed him to take my children away from me. If I had kept them, maybe they would both be here with me.

If I hadn't fallen for Daniel's empty promises, maybe my Kate wouldn't have gone to a mental institute for something she didn't do.

"Work with me here Jacky. You have to testify against her. If I go to jail, we will never be together again. Nothing will happen to her. You will see her again."

"You promise?"

"I promise."

Memories of that will forever be imbedded at the back of my mind. They will always haunt me. No matter what I do, I will never forget it. The day I betrayed my own child for the sake of a marriage that ended up in an ugly divorce.

Kate's POV

When we got to the house, I quickly got out of the car and walked in to get all my belongings. I wasn't willing to live in a house with Jacky or Wendy right now.

When I walked into the house, I noticed Jacky's suitcase from the other day sitting right next to the door. I cringed at the sight and remembered to conversation we just had.

"What about Kate and Catherine?"

It's not everyday one finds out that they have been raised by a random woman their whole life and their real mother sold them out.

I ran upstairs and got my stuff packed. I noticed that someone has been digging around my room while I was gone, but right now I didn't care. I took my stuff and took out my phone.

Kate: Hey. Please could you fetch me from my house as soon as possible.

I was about to put my phone away when it buzzed, indicating an incoming message.

Christian: In about fifteen minutes.

With transport sorted out, I went to find Wendy. I found her in her room talking on the phone.

She turned around and quickly hung up when she saw me.

"Kate? Hi," he greeted.

"Hey. Um I have-"

She cut me off before I could finish my sentence. "We have to talk. It's important."

"Okay," I said, walking ovet to sit next to her on the bed.

"I think that you and Jacky have to move out...right now. I'm sorry, but you two aren't good for this family. Ever since you arrived, everything has changed. And I will not put my kids through this."

Ehh...

"So basically. You are kicking me out of my own father's house?" I asked. I was gonna say the same thing but still. "And kicking Jacky out of her husband's house?"

"What?"

"You didn't-" I was cut off by my phone ringing.

"Hello?" I answered walking out of the room to mine.

"Hi. Is this Miss Kate Johnson? This is Mr Kearns speaking," The voice asked.

"Yes it is."

"Okay. Ma'am, we need you to get to Parson Holdings as soon as you can. We have a few things to discuss with you and Mrs Jacky Saldana-Johnson," he said.

"Oh okay. I'll be there in the next few minutes."

"Thank you. Yoy can come through to floor 4. Room 13."

"Okay sure," I said to him and hung up.

I got my suitcase and headed for the front door to leave this house forever. I saw Christian standing with Jacky on the driveway and they both turned to see me when I got out.

"Umm. Jacky we have to go to Parson Holdings now. Someone called me and said they have a few things to discuss with us."

"What about?" She asked.

"I don't know. I didn't ask. We just have to go now," I turned to Christian. "Could you take me there please?"

"Of course sure," he answered quickly. "Jacky you getting a ride with us?"

She looked at me with a questioning look on her face before she shook her head. "I'll meet you guys there."

"Why would a law firm contact you so suddenly?" Christian asked me.

"I have no idea," I replied honestly. The whole ride here, Christian didn't question why Jacky was following us instead of just getting in the car with us since we were going to the same place. And for that, I am grateful.

When we got to the room we were supposed to, Jacky walked in through the door a few seconds later.

"Ahh. You made it," Mr Kearns said.

"Why are we here?" I asked.

"Well with Mr Johnson in jail, it is our responsibility to pass on his assets to whomever is in his will. And that was his wife and daughter," he said, reading the documents in front of him.

"No. But I'm not his wife. Wendy is. I'm sure there was a mistake. I filed for a divorce four years ago," Jacky explained.

"It seems as though he never sent the papers in because here, you two are still legally married and everything he has goes to you and his daughter."

Everything just gets more twisted by the second.
