Febuary 2nd
"Sam, what are you doing?" I asked as she continued to type on her phone. "Texting Kevin. He says Madison is missing you like crazy." "So, kinda like Kevin was when ya'll got married?" "Yeah, pretty much."
Tomorrow was Maddy and I's wedding, and Sam had taken me away to my childhood home. Abigail had also come along with us. The guys were still at Maddy and I's house, hopefully not wrecking it. I stood up off the couch and went into the kitchen, grabbing a bottle of water.
My phone soon began to vibrate in my pocket, and I smiled as I saw the name that popped up on the screen. 'Bae😍😘' Slipping out the back door, I sit down on the swing set as I answer the phone. "Hey babe!" "Hey baby girl, what are you doing?" "Swinging on the swing set, what about you?" "Trying to not go crazy." I laugh and we continue to talk to one another.
"Britt? Where are you?" I hear Abigail yelling out the door, scaring me. "Gotta go babe, the girls are looking for me. Love you." "Love you too." We hang up the phone and I walk back inside. "Where were you?" "Outside on the swing set." They give me a strange look, but let me go into my room.
My dress and boots were in the corner of the room, the dress hanging up. It showed my Southern side, something I really wanted to show. Everyone wanted me to get a fancier dress, but I didn't want that.
My speakers clicked on, and Sam Hunt's 'House Party' began to play. As I was gathering everything I would need for tomorrow, I stumbled upon a box. Not knowing what was in the box, I opened it up. What was inside it surprised me.
A baseball.
A poster.
Tons of pictures.
All from High School.Setting the box down on my bed, I sit down next to it and smile at the memories. One picture was of Maddy and I at the creek fishing after school one day. Another was of us riding horses. The baseball was the one he had left in my locker, the one he used to officially make me his girlfriend and the poster was the one he had left laying on the beach, asking me to be his date to prom.
All the different memories were flooding my mind, both good and bad. From being bullied everyday and having one friend, to being the girlfriend of the star baseball player and best friends with the team. And all that had happened in a month's time period.
When I wake up the next morning, my nerves are in overdrive. My legs were wobbling and I could barely walk. These were the Pre-Wedding Jitters people talked about. I showered and dressed in some sweatpants and a flannel before walking downstairs. Abigail and Sam were cooking breakfast, so I just sat and tried to calm down. We ate breakfast, gathered everything we would need, then headed to the barn where the wedding would be held.
The barn was actually just the one at Maddy and I's house, but Maddy and I were kept at opposite ends of the house. I tried sneaking away, but was caught and dragged back. My phone was taken away and so I was stuck there. After they did my makeup, they helped me into the dress so we could do my hair.
A knock came from the door, causing me to jump. "It's just me, don't worry." I hear Bruce Bochy say from the door. He had tears in his eyes when I saw him. "You've grown up so much since I first met you. You really have." I gave him a hug and tried not to cry. "Im glad you were such a father-figure to me." We pulled away and wiped the tears from our eyes.
I was standing outside the barn with Bruce, waiting on the door to swing open. When it finally did, my nerves skyrocketed again. But as soon as I saw Maddy, they all disappeared. Because there was the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with, and that's exactly what I planned to do.
