"I'm just saying, you and Gabriel have been engaged since you were twenty one. Four whole years. You two need to start planning the damn wedding before we all get too old!" Dawn went on, tapping her fingers on the steering wheel "I know it's not Gabriel who's stalling, Amy. When you were trapped in the city a few weeks ago, he made it pretty clear that he wanted to get married sometime this year. A summer wedding would be really romantic, on the beach, waves crashing behind y-"
"Can you shut up already?" I said, rolling my eyes as I massaged my temple. My head was killing me, I had gotten pretty drunk at a Gabriel's company party, and Dawn decided it would be a perfect time to confront me about the wedding. I turned my head and felt the cold January air nip my face. I had no interest, whatsoever, in this conversation. I could feel Dawn's eyes staring at me "Keep your eyes on the damn road, Dawn, do you want to crash?" I hissed
"Sorry" Dawn muttered and we pulled up to the spa.
Spa trip. That must cheer Amy up.
Dawn and I walked into the spa and as Dawn rent to tell the woman at the desk about our reservations, I sat down and flipped through a magazine. Nothing that interesting, stuff about Kim Kardashian's baby, some custody battles, who wore what dress better, stupid things. I was about to put it down when a name caught my eye as I quickly flipped through the pages uninterested.
Steven Tyler.
I grinned and flipped back to the page. Ever since Christmas Eve, we have been.. I guess you could say we were having an affair. It's only been a few weeks and we haven't seen each other a whole lot since Erin came back and Steven was busy with plans on leaving the country to tour in a few months, and I being busy trying to get my career of the ground, but if the opportunity showed, we'd go out like normal people, go have dinner, go back to his place, you know.
STEVEN TYLER SPLITS FROM FIANCEE ERIN BRADY
I blinked. What? I scanned the article quickly. They broke up. They weren't getting married. Why? Absentmindedly I reached for my phone. I had to call Steven. I needed to know what was going on. I thought he was happy? Oh God, what if she found out? No, she couldn't of. Besides, Steven was Steven. He could have slept with anyone else and that's why the broke up. Or maybe she cheated. Or maybe they were just tired. Or maybe...
"Amelia!" Dawn said, snapping her fingers "I've been calling your name like, a hundred times. Come on!"
Okay. Maybe it could wait.
______
"Why do you want me to drop you off on the other side of town?" Dawn asked, raising an eyebrow. I had to get to Steven's now, and the only way I could was Dawn. Sigh.
"I..There's a wedding planner here, and he said he could see me now but I had to go to his house cause he is busy" I said, not making eye contact "it's really important. You can just drop me off, I'll call a cab and come home" I said as Dawn approached Steven's street "Here" I told her "Turn here"
Dawn turned and looked around "Pretty houses. You sure you don't want me to come in? I'm a bridesmaid after all!"
"No! Don't! I said a little too quickly "I got this under control. Stop here." Dawn stopped the car in front of Steven's house and I got out, walking to the door. I could feel here eyes on me, but ignored her and knocked on the door.
Tom answered "Amy, what are you doing here?"
I smiled "I read about Steven and Erin, I just wanted to see if he was okay" I said "If it's a bad time I could come back tomorrow"
"No, no come in. I'm sure he'll be glad to see you" Tom said, moving aside to I could go in.
"How's he taking it?" I asked as I looked over my shoulder at Dawn. who watched suspiciously.
