Glimpses Into Time

Frank
Waking up, I felt more grounded than normal. Most people have to try hard to think outside the box, but I'm just the opposite. My imagination is always outside of the box and I struggle to think inside of it. I can be disconcerting to a lot of people, but it's just how I am. I never chose to have hallucinations, but I do have them.
The human mind is a strange thing. At sometimes, it can be as vast as the universe-like when we make art or use our imaginations. At other times, the human mind is a narrow-minded thing that discriminates, excludes, and hates. It's sometimes hard to know which is more dangerous.
"Frank!" Hazel said while running up to hug me; I happily obliged.
Hazel's hair smelled of cinnamon and I closed my eyes so I could focus on its alluring fragrance. "I love you, Frank," Hazel whispered.
"Je t'aime," I said. "I love you too."
I could have cuddled with her all day, but Leo interrupted us. "Break it up," he said with a megaphone-how did he get that? "Class is in thirty minutes and you guys still need to eat breakfast!"
Hazel
I blushed as Frank slipped his large, soft hands over my smaller ones. I was eating hash browns and a scrambled egg while he chowed down on cereal and milk. "I'll see you soon," I said softly.
He nodded and gave me a smile, but I could see the worry in his eyes. Frank was as strong as an elephant and as gentle as a guinea pig. I squeezed his hand softly to try to reassure him. "It will be alright," I whispered.
My first class was art and I enjoyed it. I sat by Annabeth and Piper. Frank was sitting with Jason and Percy. We started the class with a boring lecture from Mrs. Gaea on the beauty of the natural world and how it can influence our creativity. "Earth is the only planet known to harbor life and its beauty and delicate ecosystems can provide inspiration to you children," she said to wrap up. "Now, we will start with charcoal drawings today."
I was soon drawing. At least we were making art and not war. I let my mind guide my hands and I didn't even think about what I was creating. Before I knew it, I was finished. I set down my piece of charcoal and looked at the piece of paper. I saw a familiar face looking around in worry and confusion. Different animals that looked spirit-like with their hazy outlines were running and flying around his head. The bell rang and I picked up my items and hurried to Algebra.

Jason
I was hurrying from art when I crashed into someone. "S-sorry," I said shakily. "I didn't mean to-"
"You never mean to do anything," a familiar voice said.
I looked up to see the familiar face of Bryce Lawrence. His brown hair was cut sharply like usual and his snake-green eyes were filled with hate. A familiar sneer was painted on his features. "Why are you here?" I asked incredulously.
"I got in trouble after I killed my sister's cat," he said while shrugging. "Honestly, it wasn't even a big deal."
I felt a bolt of anger course through me like lightning. "You killed your sister's cat?" I asked angrily. "Why?"
"It doesn't matter," he said brusquely. "I wanted to see it be hurt. Why do I care if it feels the pain?"
I shook my head, but left to go to Algebra. Some people have hate so ingrained in them that they can't express any empathy. I wondered what happened to Bryce to make him that way, but Bryce was a bully as always and I was not looking forward to his taunts.
