Trish's POV
I opened my eyes, blinking multiple times. There was a searing pain at my right temple and my ears were slightly ringing. I laid there, eyes closed now, waiting for sleep to consume me. It was only when I had to have laid there for over an hour did I decide it was pointless. The memories of last night had slowly come back to me, making sleep impossible.
Everything had happened quickly. We had dropped off the box, no problem. Jacob had asked me how the date with Cole had gone. I had told him the truth and admitted that I have feelings for Cole. Jacob wiggled his eyebrows mischievously and told me if he hurt me he wouldn't hold back from harming Cole. I had laughed, agreeing because the boys had never gotten their share of harming Zeke. It had been a normal conversation. Normal, until an ear splitting noise sounded and a wave of heat, dust, concrete had lifted my feet off the ground and sent me flying. I flew, only for a few seconds before my head smacked against the concrete, causing me to black out. I woke, to barely any hearing and in complete shock.
Cole had found me a few minutes later, though I knew he was talking to me I had no idea what he was saying. When I attempted to speak, my throat had clogged up.
He picked me up, putting me in the backseat of his SUV. Cole attempted to talk to me once more and I still couldn't hear. The only thing I could think of was the pain in my head. Thayer came in, trying to get me to speak as well. Though I was out of it, my hearing had come back but barely. I had caught the words 'Jacob and debris'.
I shot up in bed, instantly regretting it. If the pain in my head was bad laying down I was wrong, it was way worse sitting up. It felt like someone was hammering a nail into my head. I groaned, quietly to myself. The pain in my head was intense and almost impossible to ignore, but I decided to try.
I heard a slight grunt to my right and looked over. Cole, looking uncomfortable sat asleep on an old folding chair. His head was all the way back, his mouth opened and out came small little grunts and snores. Why was he sitting here? He had a mattress all to himself. I was going to ponder why he was sitting here when I decided it didn't matter. I had to go find out if Jacob was okay.
I stood slowly, standing for a few seconds to adjust to the pain in my head. When I was okay, I moved around Cole and started looking around.
Dakota was passed out on her bunk bed above me, while the rest of the boys were passed out on the couches around the tv. The channel was tuned to the news and the head story was the explosion that occurred last night. A blond haired blue eyed anchorman appeared as she began to talk about last night. "The authorities have been cleaning up and down these streets since last night. There has been a total of thirteen deaths, all employees inside the building, Banking Base. Numerous amount of people had been injured and authorities are trying their best to figure out why and how this explosion occurred."
The camera cut to the scene where a cop was waiting. He looked like he had to be in his mid thirties, with black hair and brown eyes. Why does he look so familiar?
"We are working our hardest at trying to figure out what exactly happened here." He spoke, as a banner appeared below him.
'Police Officer G.Hall'
Hall? There was no way this could be Cole's father. A cop? I would like to think that Cole would've mentioned that to me. I blinked multiple times, figuring that my eyes were playing tricks on me. I looked back, only to see that the newscast was now over.
Where was Jacob? They wouldn't have brought him to the hospital. What if his injures were that bad that they had no choice but to bring him there? I panicked slightly, grabbing Dakotas car keys noiselessly and made my way downstairs. There was nobody in the kitchen and nobody in the bar. I was just about to open the door when I heard Thayer's dad call out to me.
"You're friend is back here. They knew better than to take him to the hospital." I whipped around, following Thayer's dad. He led me to a part of the building I had never seen before. It looked the same as the front part of the restaurant but more clustered. "He's in here." He said and he opened the door.
Jacob lay on a table, topless and pale. His eyes were closed, asleep. His right side was completely covered in bruises. Most of them were purple and black and as they got closer to his stomach they were mostly blacks. There were multiple thick bandages on his stomach and I didn't need to be a doctor to know that he had stitches under them.
"If it makes you feel any better, I've seen a lot worse." Jamal, Thayer's dad, said. " His ribs on his right side have been bruised. His shoulder was dislocated and had to be popped back in. The ribs on his left side are also bruised. " He trailed off.
"He's has a long road ahead of him doesn't he?" I asked, my voice quiet.
Jamal nodded his head, agreeing. "I gave him medicine for pain. You'll have to look after him a lot.
I nodded. We would be there for Jacob as he would be for all of us.
"How about I check you out sweetheart? You were pretty out of it last night." Jamal said as he rummaged through the cabinets.
"Not right now." I said, as I backed away.
"Trish. I highly advise going out or doing anything without me checking you." He said as he tried to drag me back into the room.
"Not now." I hissed, as I got out of his grip. I turned, running away just in case he tried to come after me.
I slammed Dakotas car door shut and backed out of the parking lot quickly before speeding away. I had no idea where I was going. Just seeing Jacob like that made me want to leave and as quickly as possible. I should've opened the box and looked inside. Yes, I knew it was Wiz who caused this.
A huge amount of rage consumed me.
Wiz.
