Cole's POV
My mind kept replaying the way Trish and I had danced. I had no idea what made me do it, just like when I had gave her my number. What was this girl doing to me? She probably thought I was a loser giving her my number and I bet she laughed with her friends about it.
All of this went through my head as I was threw a football above me and caught it. I was going to do it again when my phone made an unfamiliar noise.
Meet me at the bar - T
My heart lurched could it be Trish? It seemed unlikely but I had nothing else to do so I got up and got ready to go.
"Where are you going Cole?" My Dad asked as he came down the stairs in his police uniform.
"Just going to meet up with some friends is that alright?"
"Of course."
That's what I liked about my Dad, he wasn't tough at home. I grabbed my shoes and started jogging the path back to the bar. I was going to have to buy myself a car.
I arrived at the bar in twenty minutes later and walked inside. It wasn't as packed as it had been last night but it was still busy. I spotted Trish and all her friends sitting at the table in the back corner. They were wearing sweats and had a laid back look to them.
I approached the table and smiled slightly.
"Sit down Jock Boy." Thayer huffed. I rolled my eyes at my nickname and grabbed a chair.
"Where'd you learn how to dance?" The girl who wasn't Trish asked. She must be Dakota.
I blinked at her. This what the meeting was about?
" I just always had the moves and rhythm."
Dakota looked at Trish and back at me.
"This is going to be a mistake, I can tell all ready. Why do we need new blood for?" Theo questioned.
"He's a good dancer Poppers. We might need the bodies for this year." Trish finally spoke. She was the leader of this crew assembled before me.
Thayer slammed the blade of a knife into the table."Since when do we talk about business when there's other people around or when there's people from our school present!"
"Relax Blades. Think of this as Initiation"
"Since when do we use nicknames around strangers?" Paul spoke up.
"Back up with all the code words and include me in this since you're talking like I'm not here." I said hotly.
"You're not here in my head Jock Boy." Thayer said sarcastically.
This was starting to be fun.
"I say him a chance. If he messes up or isn't up to the job we cut him loose and if necessary we can do other things to him." Theo interrupted before I could say something to Thayer.
"Why get new blood if we can just ask our friends around here?" Dakota asked tentatively.
"If it gets that desperate I will ask for help but since when are we the type to call on help?" Trish questioned right back
"Since when are we the type to start recruiting people?" Thayer questioned.
"Why him? I think that's the more important question." Jacob spoke.
"Did you not see him dance last night? He definitely has the moves and rhythm, if we teach him some other things, he'll fit right in with us " Dakota defended me.
"Are you considering me to be apart of your crew?" I voiced my curiosity.
"Yes Jock Boy. Trish had the brilliant idea this morning. If we knew getting her drunk off her ass last night would lead to this meeting right now, we never would have done it" Theo spoke up and all the boys nodded their heads.
"That's not the only reason why." All eyes went to Trish.
She looked at me for the first time since I got here. " Remember what you witnessed in the alleyway?
I nodded.
" Well that boy went back to The Raiders and told them what we said and that you were there. That's a bad thing. You're an witness to the world in the shadows and that's bad because they don't know if you're going to go squealing to the cops or go around talking. A small event like that has a big impact and I wouldn't be surprised if they were asking around for you. Meaning they'll be looking for you, whether to talk or hurt you but if they know you're with us, it'll give them more reason to be angry at us. You being a good dancer is a good enough reason for me to consider you and that you need protection."
"You do have a point." Theo trailed off.
"So you're planning to use me?" I questioned.
"I'm down with that." Thayer smirked at me.
"Either way we're going to kick their asses, even if we do use you or not." Jacob smiled at me. I wasn't sure if that was real or not.
"That doesn't make any sense. If I was with you guys then why would I have been hiding?"
"We'll say we recruited you after because we didn't want you to run your mouth." Dakota explained.
"It'll make them more angry because they didn't get to you first because of us. Once you're with us you're with us. No backing out, no telling secrets to other crews nothing. Understood?" Trish said sternly.
"Okay."
"Are you okay with giving him a chance?" She spoke to everyone else.
"Yea."
"Sure"
"Okay."
"mmhm."
"Good lucky Jock Boy."
She turned back to me.
"Welcome to your Initiation."
