Cole's POV
The waiting was killing me. Dakota didn't know if Zeke's mom had heard her leave the house or suspected anything. We didn't know if Zeke had been arrested or if the police decided to release him because there wasn't enough evidence. If they did release him they would investigate into it and come arrest me.
My fate was still up in the air.
The sound of my Dad's car door opening got me out of my worrying. Trish slid in, closing the door behind her. We were going on our movie date. The movie would help me stop worrying for awhile and treating Trish made me feel good.
"What moving are we seeing?" She asked as I drove towards the theaters.
"There's a few superhero movies that are playing, but you don't seem the type of girl to like the superhero movies." I said looking over at her. She had shorts and a plain shirt on and she looked like a model.
"You're right I'm not the kind of girl who likes superhero movies. But if there's no other option I'm fine seeing one." She explained prying one of my hands off the wheel for her to hold.
We arrived not that long later and I quickly scurried out the car, opening Trish's for her.
"Thank you." She said as I closed the door for her. I grabbed her hand and we made our way inside. There was a short line for the tickets and a small arcade center. It smelled overwhelmingly of popcorn and grease, making my stomach grumble.
"There isn't another movie that seems worth seeing." Trish said her eyes on the screen showing what was playing. My eyes scanned the list seeing that she was right.
"Next." The woman behind the ticket counter called. I asked her for two tickets to Batman v Superman before starting to make my way to the concession stand.
"I have snacks in my bag, you don't have to spend anymore money." Trish whispered tugging my arm towards the guy who was supposed to check our tickets.
"What? We can get in trouble for smuggling snacks in." I protested.
Trish raised her eyebrow at me. "Cole look at everything that we've or you've done in the past few months. Smuggling snacks into a theater is the harmless thing you've done."
She was right but he words didn't make me feel any better.
"Won't he check your purse?" I asked as we were only a few feet from the ticket guy.
"No. It's a movie theater not a bank. Come on the movies supposed to start soon." She took the tickets from my hand turning towards the ticket checking guy. She handed them the tickets and he looked down at them for a fraction of a second. "Theater five on your right. Enjoy the show." He said before we moved passed him.
"Nothing to worry about." Trish said before placing a kiss on my cheek. We made our way to the top and there was only a few people in the theater. The movie started not long after finding our seats. There was action right from the beginning, easily engaging everyone but me. I had been engrossed in the movie for the first few minutes but the worrying was more overpowering than the intense music coming from the speakers. My whole life could be over at any second. I didn't know if the rest of the crew would try to get me out. Thayer would let me rot as I would let him. The rest I would hope would help try to get me out. By helping the Twins out with their parents, I knew they would blow up one of the walls of the prison just to get me out.
I closed my eyes trying to vanish all the possibilities.
I looked at Trish seeing she was engrossed in the movie. The colors of the screen changed, emitting shadows onto her face. I couldn't help a smile grow on my face.
We hadn't been dating that long and I could already see a small change in her. She was still cold, granted but there was a difference. I was surprised at how easily she said yes when it came to meeting my dad. I had thought she would of thought about it for a few hours. But she said it was because I could be going to jail. I could see her mind ticking as we discussed business, she watched and listened. She had a different style of leading a gang than the others. Her actions towards me had been sweet and when she would just press her lips to my neck swiftly I couldn't help but be surprised by it.
The movie screen went dark for a minute before lighting up again seeing that she was looking back at me.
"You're suppose to be watching the movie." She said.
I opened my mouth wanting to tell her my fears. But no. Today was supposed to be just about enjoying each other's company and the movie.
Instead I raised my hand to her cheek. "I'd rather watch you." I replied. My arm was pressed against her and I felt goosebumps rise on her skin. I was surprised again, that my words had a physical affect on her.
She brought my hand to her lips kissing the palm.
The movie ended not that long later and we talked about it on the way back. I pulled up to our home just as her phone buzzed. I watched her unlock it, a breathtaking smile appear on her face.
"Looks like Zeke's been arrested and charged." She said holding the phone out for me to see. There on the screen was Zeke looking scared shitless and his parents looking at him in horror.
"You have to send me that picture. It's going to be my new lock screen." She laughed saying she would send it later.
All the worrying about going to jail was now gone. My plan had worked.
I was safe.
We were all safe.
