I felt my heart rate increase. I had been wondering if she had enjoyed herself but with everything that had happened I had forgotten to ask her.
"I enjoyed myself." She smiled at me, brightening the room.
"Y-you did?" I stammered. I had thought she didn't say anything because she didn't want to hurt my feelings. I had been wrong.
"Yes, I did." She repeated herself. "I thought you were going to take me to dinner and a movie . You surprised me by taking me go carting and going to the beach." I smiled at the memory. I hadn't planned on taking her there, I just didn't want to say goodnight to her yet.
"I enjoyed talking on the beach with you." I said.
She smiled again. She laid back down and angled herself towards me so she could still talk to me. It was silent for a few moments, as she looked down on the floor, caught up in her thoughts. As she stayed there, I just looked at her, taking in her beauty.
Her skin had gone back to white instead of an unhealthy pale. Her hair, dark brown went perfectly with her skin. It was mid length, resting on her chest and she either curled her hair or put it up. The first thing about her that made me attracted to her were her eyes. I had thought they were brown from the first week I had saw her from a distance. But that day in the cafeteria, the first day I had been close to her made me see that they were a combination of blue, green and grey. It was a beautiful combination.
"Cole?" Trish said, her voice sounding off.
"What's wrong?" I panicked. She was fine a few moments ago.
"I'm fine. I had been calling your name for the past few minutes but you didn't seem to notice." She looked at me concerned.
"Sorry, I was just in my own mind for a bit." I responded as I stretched out my muscles in the chair.
"It's okay. I just asked why you moved here and where you lived before."
I raised my eyebrow at her. "Why are you asking?"
She sighed, before answering. " You've made an effort to get to know me the least I could do is return the favor. Dakota's the one who's encouraged me to talk to you and was the one to tell you that I enjoyed our date." Without Dakota's encouragement she wouldn't have said anything in the first place. I would have to thank Dakota for her encouraging Trish.
"New Orleans." I answered.
"Really?" She said, surprised.
"Yea. Bad city. Crimes terrible. I'm surprised my Dad didn't move here after I was born."
"The city might be terrible but I hear the parties are awesome." I smiled. The parties in New Orleans were something else.
"I'll take you there sometime. You'd love it there." I told her. I could see her partying all night.
"I'd definitely like that." She smiled as her eyes twinkled.
"What else would you like to know?"
"How'd you get into football?" She asked after a moment's thought.
"My Dad. He used to play in his high school years. When I was younger he used to joke around with me saying I came out running." I admitted causing her to chuckle. " One of our major games is coming up and I was wondering if you guys would come."
Trish frowned before answering. "We're really not big on the whole school spirit thing. But if you tell Dakota she'd go. It's always been a thing she wanted to attend." I frowned. It would be nice for her to come.
"Okay I'll make sure to ask her."
We fell into a comfortable silence, neither of us feeling like we had to say anything in that moment. It was quiet for so long that I had thought she had fallen back to sleep, until she asked her next question.
"You a virgin?"
I felt my mouth drop open.
"Zero to a hundred with these questions." She laughed, as she moved back her hair that had fallen into her face.
"You a virgin?" I asked her, not answering.
"I asked you first." She said.
"No. Lost it to a girl before I moved here. She didn't want to try long distance. She kept saying she wanted someone there physically, not just over calls or Skype. I argued with her saying we could travel back and forth but she didn't want any part of it."
"What's her name?" Trish asked intently.
"Melanie. She was gorgeous. Top of her classes, on the cheerleading squad, which is how I met her."
"Do you still have feelings for her?"
I narrowed my eyes at her. Couldn't she see the way I feel for her?
"No. I've moved on." I told her honestly. " You never answered my question."
" Lost it last year to Zeke." She said.
"I really don't like the guy. He's cocky and arrogant." I responded hotly.
She let out bark of laughter. "He was never like that when he was around us or me when we were alone. He was confident, so sure of himself and smart. Which made me attracted to him in the first place."
"I really want to hit him. I've only met him twice and I've wanted to both times. I want to hit him because he's not a very good human being and because of what he did to you. What type of a guy does that? To treat a woman like that? Was he not hugged enough of a child?" I ranted.
"You're not the only one who wants to hit him. All the guys want to. They've never got their chance."
I opened my mouth, wanting to ask to be the one to fight with The Raiders next week. But I closed my mouth. I had already lost Thayer his car and I didn't want to mess up the street fight.
Just then, Trish's phone buzzed, making me jump. I was used to the quiet that the noise sounded loud. She grabbed her phone off the floor, unlocking it and reading the message. Her face lit up reading it.
"Who is it?" I asked curiously.
"Our friend Austin. He's in another gang up called Kings and Queens on the North side of town. He just invited us to their New Year's Eve party."
" A party is just what we need." I said sarcastically.
"A party is exactly what we need. We haven't seen them since you joined the gang and they're eager to meet you."
I smile as she continued talking to her friend, our conversation forgotten.
