Under the Mistletoe

"Hey Li!" I greeted, once I saw he had opened the door.
"Hey glad you could make it babe!" He smiled, pulling me in for a quick hug. I got a good whiff of his cologne and laughed, of course there he goes mixing it again to get a 'better result'
"Make yourself at home!" He told, placing his hand on my lower back and shutting the door with his other hand as he lead me into the living room. It was a small party, as I was told by Liam, there would only be 20 people. There were only about 12 here now, so I tried looking for someone I would know to talk to.
I walked over to the food table, spotting a bowl of Chex mix. Fucking Chex mix is my weakness. I take a quick look around, seeing that no one was in my area before grabbing a handful and pouring it into my mouth. What? It's good.
"Hey Y/N/N" someone greeted. My eyes went wide as I tried to chew the mouthful, slowly turning towards the voice. Oh my god. Him of all people?
"Hey Ni" I spoke in between chews, though it came out as a muffle. I could feel my cheeks burn as he laughed at me, and I nervously played with the bottom of my skirt.
"You're adorable" he complimented, grabbing a handful of Chex mix and placing it into his mouth as well.
See, I've had a crush on Niall for a while. We've hung out a good 9-10 times, since Liam is my best friend. By the 6th time, I knew that I had strong feelings for the blue eyed bloke, but I'm just an ordinary girl. And he's a worldwide famous pop star.
"So..what are you doing for Christmas?" Niall brought up after he swallowed, shyly talking as if he was nervous to be around me.
"Just going to my grandmas, having all my family come down. You?" I replied, playing with my fingers
"That sounds nice. Eh I'm probably gonna go to my dads house, eat loads of food, and wear my fabulous Christmas sweater" he answered. I couldn't help but giggle at his attitude, which brought a small smile upon his face
"Alright ladies and gents! Come follow me outside I got a cool thing set up!!" Liam yelled out to the household. Everyone piled outside, grabbing their coats and following Liam out onto the back deck. The ground had a very thin layer of snow, it was only lightly snowing outside.
"So because I'm in one of the biggest bands and I'm rich, I decided to do something really fuckin cool" he laughed, plugging in the lights to show us a pathway that lead into the woods than came right back to his back yard. Like a upside down u shape. In one way, out the other. It looked like the path was outlined with rainbow lights, with the occasional blow up or bright decoration around a corner.
"You have to do it in partners though! Boy and girl" he winked towards me, and I knew exactly what it was up to
"Who wants to go first?" He shouted, everyone crying out and screaming that they wanted to
"What about you Y/N? How bout you take a lucky man with you into there first?" He grinned, pulling my hand to take me from the crowd.
"I'll go with her!" I heard from behind me, and I swear my heart skipped a beat. I turned around to see Niall jogging up to me, cheeks bright pink from the cold as he looked towards Liam
"Just follow the lights, ey?" Niall chuckled, and Liam nodded his head
"So smart for someone who only made it to the 10th grade" Liam cockily remarked, earning a slap upside the head from Niall
"I'll give you three minutes to walk, then I'll send the other couple in. It'll only take bout 10 minutes. Safe travels!!" Liam shouted, shoving us into the starting line. We both looked back and watched Liam give us a reassuring gesture to go.
"Sorry if you didn't want to be with me" Niall whispers, as we take slow steps away from the crowd and between the lights. I look over to him, seeing his head faced towards the ground and his hands shoved into his pockets as he bit his lips.
"You kidding? There's no one else I would've rather walked through a trail of Christmas lights with" I grinned, nudging his shoulder. He returned the smile, taking his hands out of his pockets only for his right hand to brush against my left one. I looked up into the snow, watching it fall on my nose and hair as the lights illuminated the white flakes
"Have I mentioned that you look absolutely breathtaking tonight?" He whispered. I smiled softly down at the ground, mumbling a thank you in reply. I squeezed his hand in my own, looking around at all of the decorations.
"Y/N?" Niall brought up. I replied with a simple 'mhm' as a way to tell him to go on
"I have something to tell you, and I don't think I can hold it in any longer"
"Hold in what?"
"I-I... I've liked you for a while now" he admitted. You stopped, dead in your tracks, turning towards him
"Y-you like me?" I mumbled in disbelief, though he could still hear me. He scratched the back of his neck nervously before matting down the hair back there. He turned to face me,reaching for both my hands
"Yes, I do. I really do and I have ever since Liam first introduced you to us"

NIALL's POV
"Lads! I have someone very special that you should meet!" Liam smirked, shouting to us from down the hall from the front door
"Okay yeah" I called back, continuing to play Fifa against Louis.
"Bring them in!" Harry called, but me and Lou payed no attention as I just got a goal, causing him to roll his eyes and shout profanities
"Lads, this is Y/N" Liam introduced. I mumbled a hi, not really caring about Liam's new girlfriend or whatever at the moment
"You're best friend Y/N?" I heard Harry ask, and from the corner of my eye I saw him get up and hug her with Louis.
"Yep! Since day one" Liam told. I rolled my eyes, continuing to play even if Louis wasn't there
"Niall? Aren't you gonna say hi?" Liam asked. I turned around to look at him but my eyes landed on the girl standing right next to Liam. She had big brown eyes and long dark hair, and a small smile written upon her face. She was wearing a white summer dress and I swear I just laid my eyes on an angel
"Ey close that mouth ya wanker" Louis commented. I closed it quickly, jumping up from my position and crossing the room in three big strides
"I'm Niall" I welcomed, outstretching my hand and getting a better look at her face. She had a few freckles here and there, and her lips just looked so kissable.
"Y/N" she shook my hand, giggling softly
"Here, come sit down" I ushered, placing a hand on the small of her back as I lead her into the living room to sit down on the couch.
"Knew this would happen" Liam laughed, Louis and Harry joining in. But I acted as if I couldn't hear, and continued to look at the beauty in front of me.
"Do you like Fifa?" I asked, feeling heat rise to my cheeks as I realized she's a girl and probably doesn't play video games.
"You kidding? Gimme a remote I'll play ya right now" she smirked, and I have her Louis remote
"Hey!" Louis shouted, coming to take his spot next to Y/N
"Sorry! She's a guest" I smiled to him, and it's like he instantly got the memo. I was already falling for Liams Best Friend.

"Well at first you were being a dick, I laughed, as I pulled his hand to silently tell him to walk again. He could hear voices a bit behind us so he followed my actions, swaying our hands back and forth
"I know and I'm still so sorry about that" he apologized.
"It's okay, I'm only joking" I shrugged, a small smirk evident on my face
"I didn't know you would be this beautiful when Liam would talk about you. I didn't know you'd be this funny, or wonderful to talk to and be around. I didn't know I'd be so attracted to you. But...now I know I am" Niall admitted, looking over to my for my reaction. I looked into this cerlaun blue eyes, reflecting the Christmas lights perfectly.
"I-I've liked you ever since the fifth time I met you, when you kissed my cheek. I don't know..I- I felt something" I admitted
There was a slight buzz that startled me and Niall as we stopped in our tracks, looking around to see a sign to our left, with a hand pointing upwards. We followed the instructions and looked up to see mistletoe, hung up on a tree.
"Wow what a coincidence" Niall chuckled.
"Oh please, did you have some part in this?" I laughed
"I swear I didn't!!" He held up his hand, since the other one was still holding mine
"Just kiss me, you idiot" I chuckled. I placed my hand to the nape of his neck, pulling him in close to me. I heard him clear his throat and I giggled softly, watching his eyes go from my lips to my own eyes. Our hands still intertwined with each other, I could feel his hands start to get sweaty which made me mentally aw with how now he was nervous. I rubbed circles onto his hand with my thumb now, looking deep into his eyes and giving him a small nod. He leaned in and gently placed his lips onto mine, and wow it was like I was on cloud 9. He pulled my closer by his hand on the small of my back, our lips moving together in sync in a passionate kiss where all the love we've been holding in was being finally let out. My fingers ran through his hair lightly, trying to savor this moment forever. He pulled away out of breath, pecking my lips once again and resting his forehead on mine
"Can we give us a try?" He asked hopefully, still trying to catch his breath
"I think we could make it work" I smiled, pulling him in for another kiss
We went in just as friends, but came out as a couple. Now that's a real tunnel of love.
