The woman nods. "It's me, baby."

"W-what are you doing here?" Jeana stutters.

"Looking for you." She says as tears start falling down her cheeks.

"I don't have anything to say to you though." My friend says with sad eyes.

"I know it's been a couple years.."

"It's been 6 years."

She gulps nervously. "I know. I'm really sorry, honey."

"Do you have any idea... what I went through when you left?"

I shuffle awkwardly, deciding whether or not to leave.

"Jeany I don't. I would never understand what you went through. It's all my fault." She says, sobbing. "I'm so sorry."

Jeana crosses her arms. "Yeah, it is your fault."

Her mum looks even more broken from her response. "I'm don't expect you to forgive me. But I just wanted to meet you again. You've grown up to be such a beautiful woman and-"

"Don't you dare," she interrupts. "Try to make me feel bad for you."

"I promise I'm not, I just really want you to know that-"

"I don't wanna know anything, I just want you to leave." She says, almost hesitant.

"Baby, please-"

"Out." Jeana responds firmly. When the woman still doesn't leave, she simply closes the door anyways.

Jeana sinks against the door. "What the hell just happened?"

I slowly walk over and sit down next to her. "That was unexpected."

She shakes her head. "I can't believe that just happened."

I put my hand out onto her shoulder for comfort. "Should.. should you tell your parents?"

She stands up and runs her hands through her hair. "I... I don't know. No on has ever taught me what to do if something like this happens, you know?"

I frown and stand up with her, leaning against the wall. "They'll understand. I think you should. I can stay until they come home if you want."

She starts to cry. "Thank you. But I'll do it on my own."

I nod. "Okay. Whatever you need."

...

"Are you sure you don't want me to stay?" I ask for the 100th time. She still looks panicked.

"I'll be okay. Thanks."

I nod. "Text me if you need anything."

I close the door behind me and start to drive home.

Jeana Pov

I pace around the empty house nervously. Jim and Tanya will probably do something that I won't agree on like find a way to send her to jail or something.

I know I was too hard on her, but it felt good to finally see her. I never thought I would see her again.

The door opens and they walk in, smiling and talking to each other.

"Jeana!" Dad smiles. "How was shopping with Maya?"

I smile weakly. "I-it was great."

"You alright? You look like your going to be sick." Mum asks, concerned.

"Y-yeah." I reply.

She nods with a reassuring smile.

"N-no."

They both turn their attention to me.

"My mum showed up." I say.

They're speechless.

"My real mum."

I sit down on the couch. "Jeana are you serious?" Mum squeals. "Where did she go?"

"I kicked her out."

"W-well how did she find out where you live?" Dad sits next to me, concerned.

I shrug. "I'm freaking out. She's the reason why my dad hurt me. She's the reason why I-" I stop myself when I break down into tears.

"It's okay, hon." Mum says, also sitting next to me. "We'll handle it."

I hug them both. "Thank you. Really."

"What did she say?" He asks.

Not wanting to cause any more drama, I say a little lie. "Nothing. I told her to leave before she could."

...

Maya Pov

"Her real mum?" Mum exclaims.

I nod quickly.

"What did she say?" Dad asks.

I think for a moment. "Just.. sorry?"

They both sigh. "That poor girl." Mum says, sitting down. "Her mum should have never showed up, especially after this many years."

I look at my dad who rests his head in his hands beside her. "Jim and Tan aren't going to be happy."

"Are we in trouble for talking to her?" I ask, worried.

They both shake their heads. "No no," my dad says reassuringly. "Of course not. I just don't understand how she found Jeana."

I shrug. Mum does too. "At least her bastard dad is in jail still for ever laying a hand on her."

I can't help but make a smile. It's funny when she's mad because she's to tiny and sweet.

"I'll ring Jim tomorrow and see what they're going to do. Maybe we can get Jeana to talk with her real mum to sort things out, but she definitely won't be sticking around." Says dad.

Mum nods. "Sounds alright to me." Then she turns to face me. "And you should head to bed, you got school tomorrow."

I agree and she kisses me on the forehead before sending me to bed.
