Jeana's Pov
I am fed up with Skylar being here.
She's been annoying me this whole time and I don't feel comfortable around her like I do with the rest of my friends. She's just starting to seem so... fake almost.
I completely zone out as she babbles on about random things, thinking I am paying attention.
"Are you even listening?"
"Huh?" I ask, zoning back in. "Yeah, yeah. Course I am."
She groans. "I just told you a story. Did you even hear any of it?"
"Sorry." I chuckle. "I guess I zoned out."
She giggles. "It's fine."
It falls into an awkward silence afterwards, but then she decided to speak again.
"So when are your parents going to adopt again?"
I clench my jaw and shake my head angerly. Is she being serious? First of all, why does she keep bringing up that? Second of all, how the hell am I meant to know?
"Not sure." I reply quietly. "Soon, hopefully."
"Cool!" She chirps, gazing around my room again. "Man, you sure are a lucky kid. I'd kill to have a room like this."
"That's pushing it a little." I joke, but kind of not.
"I'm serious. This place is awesome. All I have is a gross, plain room and that's it."
"Yeah, I've had that before too." I sigh. "It's fine though, you won't have it forever."
"It feels like forever. I just wish that someone would take me already. But nobody wants a sixteen year old."
I frown. I do truly feel bad for her, but I'm not sure what she wants me to do about it.
"It's okay." I say awkwardly, praying to start on a new topic already.
"No its not." She argues, making me sigh internally. "You may have been through it before, but you're not anymore. You don't get to say that."
"I'm sorry." I say quietly, eyes widened slightly. I certainly wasn't expecting that kind of a reaction.
She sighs. "You don't mean it."
"Yes I do." I reply, starting to get irritated. "Why can't we just talk about something else? Please?"
"Because no. I'm trying to have a heart to heart conversation here and you've been ignoring me this entire time." She scoffs.
"Okay I'm sorry." I say for the millionth time. "I honestly don't know what you want me to say though. Yes, my life is pretty good. Yours isn't at the moment, but it won't stay forever like that."
"So now you're bragging?"
"What!?" I raise my voice. "No! I'm just trying to explain mysel-"
"We get it, you have a perfect life." She rolls her eyes.
I give her my harshest glare. "You need to leave."
She panics. "What? Why? No! I haven't even spent the night yet."
"Well that's a damn shame, get out." I reply bitterly.
"I'm sorry." She apologizes. "I didn't mean to say all of that."
"I'll see you at school." I say, not looking at her.
She whimpers slightly but gathers her things and leaves the room without saying anything else, besides glaring at me bitterly. I groan loudly and lay down on my bed. I need to see Maya.
