Jeana's Pov
"Can I? Can I? Can I?" I beg for the hundredth time.
Dad sighs. "Fine, you can come with us. But don't fall in love with every child there because we only have one more bedroom."
We all laugh. "He's right," Mum adds. "There are some pretty nice kids there, I warn you."
"Ah, I can handle a little child love." I reply with a giggle.
We pack up and begin the journey to the adoption agency. This is so exciting, they're taking me with them this time so I can hopefully make their decision a little easier.
It takes some time to get there, but we eventually do. I gaze around at the old brick building.
"I remember everything about this place." I smile. "And I was only here what, a month?"
Mum puts an arm around me. "You might not remember the inside. It's pretty different."
We walk in, immediately greeted by Jackie. She gives me a hug.
"Oh my gosh, I never expected you to be here!" She says to me. "You've grown so much, Jeana."
I smile at her. "Hi Jackie, it's been a while yeah?"
She grins bigger. "Are you guys here to see the children again? Oh, what a silly question. Of course you are."
She waddles into the room with the babies and we follow close behind. The baby room improved a lot from white, cracked walls to bright yellow and comfortable looking furniture scattered neatly around the room. I just wonder what my room looks like.
"Do you guys mind if I go look at my old room here? I wanna see how it looks now." I ask, biting my lip.
My parents are lost in the babies, so they probably didn't hear a word I said.
"Yeah yeah, go ahead." Dad replies without looking away from the baby he's holding.
I giggle and roll my eyes as I walk out of the room and into mine.
Ages 12+
I take a deep breath before twisting the silver handle and walking in.
"Skylar?" I gasp instantly at the girl sitting on the bed, head buried into her phone.
She quickly looks up and lets out a surprised yelp, standing to her feet. "Jeana? W-what are you doing here?"
"Me? What are you doing here?" I ask, closing the door behind me.
"Get out, you can't see me like this!" She yells, throwing all her pillows off of the bed and at me.
I block them out of my face and walk closer. "Stop-STOP!" I yell. She doesn't, so I stop her by grabbing her wrists and looking at her in the eyes.
She squirms and looks away, tightly shutting her eyes. "Go away!"
"Calm down." I sooth. "Shh..."
Tears begin to roll down her cheeks. "You... no one was supposed to know about this."
"Can you tell me what's going on?" I ask.
"No." She replies bitterly. "I can't, I just want to be alone."
"But-"
"For the last time, please get out!" She interupts, pushing me backwards.
"Okay, fine." I huff.
I turn to leave, looking back at her. "You know, I've been living in this exact room too before."
And with that, I close the door, leaving her crossed armed and glaring at the floor on the bed.
