Brenda and Josh both run over to me. Brenda throat punches Lexi and she runs back to her class. Holding her neck. Josh holds his hand out to me. I blush just a tad and take it allowing him to pull me up.
"Thanks." I say brushing my clothes off.
"Don't mention it." He says and walks off to get a drink. I pull Brenda into the girls bathroom, make sure no one else is in there, and close the door.
"Where were you until now?" I demand.
"I had a dentist appointment." She replies.
"Well guess who beat me up at the end of first period."
"Lexi?"
"Gee Brenda, your real smart, how did you guess?" I say sarcastically. "Yeah she beat me up at the end of first period and damaged my phone. For absolutely no reason at all."
"Shit, did any of the teachers find out?"
"Nope."
"Hey at least Josh and I came to your rescue in the hallway. If we hadn't shown up she might have crippled you or something."
"I can defend myself you know."
"Then why didn't you?" Brenda demands.
"She caught me off-guard." I say in my defense. After that we both leave and go back to our classes. Twenty minutes later the bell rings for lunch. I meet Samantha in the hallway and I watch as Josh speeds by on the way into the cafeteria. He does this every day. Sam and I walk to lunch together. We sit at her assigned table with her boyfriend Elliot. Today's lunch is tacos, the schools tacos aren't the best, but they aren't the worst either. As long as they allow you to use salsa it's alright. When our table gets called up, so does Josh's. He and his friends of course shove their way as close to the front of the line as they possibly can, I of course made sure they couldn't cut in front of me.
For the rest of lunch I eat, talk to Sam and stare at Josh here and there. When I finished, I dumped my tray and then just sit, talking and waiting to be dismissed to sixth period.
***It's the end of the day and I'm sitting in my eighth period math lab eager to leave. Five minutes later the bell rings. I'm relived and I find my way to my busroom. I sit and chat with Brenda who who thankfully rides my bus in the afternoon.
