Warnings: self harm, depression, bullying
In the rollercoaster of Tae and Aimee's relationship.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aimee had always been that quiet kid in class who sat in the back corner. She was bullied, both by her peers and her parents. She had severe depression, and self-harmed to the point where it was hard to see even half an inch of unmarred skin. She'd attempted suicide multiple, all ending in failure.
She was, basically, unwanted. Or so she felt. Until she met Taemin. She met him when they were both twelve. They became fast friends. Aimee got bullied less, simply because Taemin was there. She was like a puppy, and Taemin was her owner.
And then he joined Shinee. She was happy for him, but nevertheless, she felt lonely. Taemin spent more time without her and with his band. More unexplained cuts ended up on her skin.
Taemin noticed, of course. He told her that he loved her, staring desperately into her eyes. He asked her to date him.
Aimee accepted. She had had a crush of him even before she met him, and that day had to have been the best day of her life.
Even when they fought, when Taemin threw things and Aimee slammed doors, she tried to hang on. He left her often for tours, and when he started appearing on We Got Married, Aimee admittedly felt a little jealous. Na Eun got to see Taemin more in a day than Aimee saw him in a month.
Some days, it felt as if their relationship was plunging her deeper into depression than rescuing her from it, as she had felt when they first began dating. Those were the days that Aimee sat on the floor, blood streaming down her arms and onto her lap, the days when she sat alone and cried.
But it was the days that Taemin came home from a tour, or for a holiday, that Aimee lived for. When she'd finally breathe in his scent again and hug him. It was those days when finally, Aimee felt wanted and happy.
But, unfortunately, those days did not happen often. It was mostly Aimee alone at her and Taemin's house, while Taemin was out on a tour or filming or with his friends.
And it was not as if Aimee did not like Taemin's bandmates. She liked them, she spent time with them. It was that she was slightly jealous of the time that they spent with him. It was natural, to be expected.
But it seemed as if the basis of their relationship were the things that the other didn't know about. Like how Taemin never knew of the self-harming that Aimee did, or that Aimee didn't know that Taemin occasionally had a one-night stand behind her back. There were more things left unheard of than actually said.
