Opening my eyes, I was greeted by blinding light of the sun. Once I had stretched and opened my eyes properly I saw my beautiful girlfriend sitting in the corner reading a book. I pushed myself up so I was sitting up and Rose noticed me.
“Morning gorgeous,” Rosalie said a smile on her face, “You are so beautiful when you sleep”
“Isn’t that a bit creepy”, I laughed, “Watching me whilst I sleep”
“It is the only thing to really do,” Rosalie said running her hand threw her hair and closing her book”. She got up and pushed the chair back under her desk. I threw the blanket off me and pushed myself out of the bed.
“Have you got any clothes that I can wear to school?” I asked looking down at myself and back at Rose.
“I got some clothes from your house while you were asleep”, Rose pointed to a pile of clothes. I grabbed the clothes and put them on. A ruffled blouse, skinny jeans and some flat shoes. I grabbed an elastic headband and put it on.
Once I was done we headed downstairs to where everyone was sat on sofas. I gripped Rosalie’s hand tightly as we went downstairs. She walked straight passed everyone and down the stairs to the front door. She knew how uncomfortable I was around them all. We went down to where Rosalie’s car was and stopped by it.
“You can borrow my car to take to school as I need to go feed. You can give me the keys back in school” Rose said chucking me the keys. I caught them and nodded. I kissed her goodbye and got into her car. I started up the engine and drove to school.
On my way to school I noticed five huge wolves running threw the forest. I nearly crashed at the size of them but managed to keep myself on track. I remember Charlie talking about animal attacks that didn’t look like anything they had ever crossed before so maybe this was what was doing the attacks. As I pulled out of the forest the wolves disappeared and were replaced by the early morning risers going to work. I pulled out into the road and started the drive to school. I had done this drive quite a few times now as I had stayed over as the Cullen’s many times over these two weeks so I had memorized the way to and from school/ It took about 10 minutes to get to school and when I pulled up in front of the school there was a steady stream of people making their way into the school. Parking the car in its usual spot, I turned off the engine and headed inside the school.
Just 10 minutes after I had sat down in homeroom, I saw the familiar face of Rose. I got up and went over to where she stood and handed her the keys.
“Thanks,” she said smiling at me.
“No problem. I have to go now but I will see you at lunch,” I said placing a kiss on her cheek before heading back into my homeroom.
After the bell went for lunch, I headed to the lunch hall where the Cullens sat not eating. I joined them and sat next to Rosalie placing an arm round her thin waist. We spent most of lunch talking, Edward, ever so politely, kept listening to my thoughts without my permission. I knew he was listening because he would make certain faces that I knew had to be with what I was thinking.
“So my cousin, Bella is starting here tomorrow,” I said trying to make conversation.
“Really, that’s awesome. I can’t wait to meet her” Alice said, excited as ever.
“You know it may not be a good thing” I frowned thinking of all the possibilities that could happen.
“She’s right,” Edward pointed out, “The scenarios that could happen are endless. Things like us being exposed”
“You’re agreeing with me for once,” I laughed
“But we face that danger with her knowing, so what is the difference,” Jess snarled.
“For one thing, Bella is terrible at secret keeping. Like once I told her about my parents arguing about something and she went and told them,” I said reminiscing at the memories of Bella as a child.
“So doesn’t mean that your any better” Jess said, getting angry at me.
“Please,” Rosalie growled, “Stop it Jess. Carlisle and Esme can trust her so why cant you?”
“I just don’t,” Jess huffed, turning her head to face out the window.
“I am going to head off now,” I said standing up. It was happening again and again I was feeling uncomfortable around them. I felt a hand on my arm and Rosalie looked at me.
“You alright?” she asked.
“I just need to get in some studying” I smiled shaking off her arm and heading to the library. Once I had left the cafeteria, I took a deep breath and hitched my bag onto my shoulder. I headed to the library and sat down inside.
When the day ended and the final school bell went, I headed outside and realized that I was stuck her as I didn’t have my car with me. I felt a hand on the small of my back and I turned to see Rosalie.
“Need a ride?” she grinned
“Please” I laughed, “Or I will have to spend the night at school”
Rosalie drove me home and as she pulled up I noticed Charlie’s cruiser sitting in the driveway. I groaned when I saw the rain drops hit the window.
“I will see you tomorrow” I said to Rose, kissing her goodbye.
“Okay, don’t forget that I love you” she said
“You’re such a romantic” I laughed. I looked out the window and saw the stare of Charlie.
“I have to go before he murders me with his stare” I sighed.
“Alright, I see you tomorrow” Rosalie said.
“Bye” I said. I grabbed my bag and pulled up my hood. I opened the door and shut it, not forgetting to wave goodbye to Rose. As I walked up to the house I could hear the rain getting heavier on the head so I sped up a bit and knocked on the door. It was opened, not by Charlie but by the familiar face of my cousin Isabella Swan. Grinning, I wrapped my wet arms around her and in the process I covered her in rain.
“Please, get off me you wet dog” Bella said with disgust.
“You sure you don’t want all of this lovely wet rain?” I joked. Bella laughed and pushed her hair out of her face. I took off my coat, making sure I covered my arms as I did so. I hung up my coat and turned to face Bella. She pulled me into her arms and after a moment she released me. I could see that she was looking me up and down.
“You look skinnier” Bella frowned tracing my visible cheek bones. Lightly, I pushed her finger away from my face. It made me feel very self conscious.
“Uh, yeah. I had an episode last September and I am still kind of getting over it,” I admitted. This time the hug that Bella gave me was loving and full of sympathy.
“Is that why you are here?” She asked stepping back from me.
“In a way. But I don’t really wanna talk about that” I sighed, “Your finally here so maybe Charlie will stop talking about you”. I laughed and so did Bella. Se lightly punched my arm and I pouted.
“Meanie” I said.
“You love me really” Bella said smirking at me
“Do I? I thought that I didn’t like you. That’s why I didn’t email you for a whole week” I said my voice full of sarcasm, “Come on lets head to where Charlie is. How long have you been here?” We started to walk towards the living room and stopped by the door frame.
“About 10 minutes. Did you see my truck out there?” Bella asked, a gleeful smile on her face. I shook my head and looked out the window. I saw the ugliest truck my eyes had ever laid eyes on.
“It’s...It’s…It’s wonderful” I said the words feeling like chalk on a black board as the came out of my mouth. Bella’s face drooped.
“Hey. To be fair I am used my by black beauty out there” I said nodding at my beautiful black Mercedes-Benz.
“I’m kidding” Bella laughed placing a hand on my shoulder. I shrugged it off and Bella frowned.
“Physical contact still isn’t really my thing,” I said apologetically. Well apart from Rose but she’s a different matter completely.
“Wanna come upstairs and help sort out the last of my stuff?” Bella asked. I nodded and we went upstairs together. Bella’s room was basically the same as it was years ago. The wooden floor, the light blue walls, the peaked ceiling, the yellowed lace curtains around the window. The only changes Charlie had ever made were switching the crib for a bed and adding a desk as Bella grew older. The desk that used to by the main play area for us now held a second-hand computer, with the phone line for the modem stapled along the floor to the nearest phone jack. I was guessing that that was on Renee’s request so she can speak to Bella still. I sighed at the thought of a mother who actually wanted a part in their daughter’s life. That was never going to be me. The rocking chair that used to be our stimulant for fun, still sat quiet in the corner untouched since Bella and I’s fun days. We went inside Bella’s room and I went to sit on the rocking chair. It creaked at my weight and let off small creaks every time it rocked back. After a few minutes Bella frowned at me.
“Great help Em” She said sarcastically.
“I know. I mean come on Bells you need to get your ass into gear as most of this is yours” I said shaking my head in disappointment, “Apart from that top. I like that so it’s mine”. I grabbed a cute green shirt and stuffed it under my top. Bella launched a hand at my stomach and went to grab it. She grabbed it from under my top and chucked it on her bed.
“I think not. You may be older but you aren’t stealing my stuff” She laughed. After about half an hour, we were done mucking about and we lay on Bella’s bed talking about anything. We spent the whole night just laying there until late at night. By then I was tired so I went up to my room and fell asleep no long after I had lay down. Just before I drifted off I thought I said a figure on my window but I guess I must have been so tired that I was hallucinating things. So I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.
I was woken up by the light crying of Bella from below. I was going to go see what was wrong but as quick as it has started it was gone. I lay back down in my bed and was once again pulled off to the land of dreams.
