Chapter Eighteen

Living at the Cullen's wasn't so bad. I got to spend all my time with Rosalie and we had a lot of fun. It had been two days since I had become a vampire and I still wasn't allowed to see Bella. They said I was not in control yet and that I can see her when she gets better. On a happier note, Carlisle said that the Denali's were coming soon and so I would be able to see why I get pain when I feed.

It was around 11 am and I was growing bored of waiting, and as if by magic I heard a car pull up outside. A grin spread across my face. This vampire stuff was awesome and made me feel... well there was no words to describe it. As I heard the doors slam I headed down the stairs towards the front door. I could see each Denali clearly and they all shared the same golden eyes and pale skin as the Cullens. Opening the door, I greeted them with a smile.

"Hello," I said not directing it towards anyone

"Hello. You must be Emily, the newborn?" The dark haired man asked

I nodded sharply, "That's me"

"This is the family," The man stated, "My wife Carmen-" he pointed at the dark haired women "-Tanya-" he nodded at the strawberry blonde girl "- Katrina, who prefers Kate-" he pointed out the girl with the long, pale, blonde hair "-and finally Irina" he pointed out the girl with the shorter pale blonde hair, "Oh and of course. My name is Eleazar"

"Nice to meet you all," I said carefully watching them, their golden eyes fixed on me, "Carlisle and Esme are upstairs. I will take you there"

I walked up the stairs, making sure the Denali's followed, and towards the room where Esme and Carlisle sat. Carlisle was already up when we entered; I guessed he heard us as we came up the stairs. He embraced Eleazar is a friendly hug and the same with Carmen, giving the three girls each a smile.

"Welcome," Carlisle said as if he was talking to a formal person, "I see you have met our newest member"

"We have and are pleasantly surprised by her self-control," Carmen commented

"She has her reasons," Carlisle said giving me a gentle smile, "So we have called you here to see if Emily has any special abilities"

Eleazar frowned, "But why not wait until she has discovered them like you usually do?"

"As we think her problems are cause by her ability" Esme said walking forwards so she leveled with Carlisle

"Problems?" Irina sneered, "All newborns have trouble with thirst"

"Irina don't be so rude," Kate hissed, "Sorry for her she can be very oblivious to other peoples feeling." Kate gave me a sweet smile.

"Its okay," I replied, "You wouldn't know about my problems"

"Emily cannot be within 20 or so meters of something in pain. Whether it be small or large she feels that pain amplified 10 times"

"I see," Eleazar nodded, "I can sense that that is her ability is feeling others pain and it is extremely strong"

I sighed and ran a hand through my nearly black hair.

"May I ask why this could be," Eleazar asked politely, "Any special things happen to you in your human life?"

"Uh.." I didn't know what to say, "I suffered for severe depression and I had this thing for know when people are hurt mentally"

Eleazar's face softened, "I am sorry"

"It's okay," I replied smiling at him, "I don't really mind anymore"

I could see the look of annoyance forming on Irina's face.

"You should be going know," I said trying not to be rude, "You have a long way to go"

Kate noticed Irina's face as well and nodded, "Yes we should"

There was a moment of goodbyes and awkward ones for me before they all left us in peace. I stood there for a moment.

"Looks like my life is rubbish as a vampire," I said as a joke.

Rosalie entered the room and smiled at me. She walked over to me and wrapped an arm round me.

"So?" Rosalie asked.

Carlisle nodded and I felt Rosalie sigh beside me.

I guess my vampire life is not as good as I though it would be.
