Chapter Sixteen

It was hard watching the person you love the most in so much pain. Emily had been bitten so long ago that there was no way to stop her becoming one of us. Her face was pale and she was still; the only thing that still said she was human was the faint beating of her weak heart. Once we had cleared up in the ballet studio we headed home. Well apart from Edward, who stayed with Bella at the hospital. It was a long drive from Arizona to Forks and I was in a car with Esme and Carlisle. Every time the heart beat would stop for just a second I would panic slightly as I was scared of losing her to death.

“How is she?” Esme asked looking at the lifeless body of Emily.

“She’s as well as she could be in this situation,” I sighed stroking Emily’s tattered hair.

“It’s okay, she will get through this,” Carlisle added, “She’s a fighter”

“I hope so,” I said watching the outside world as we passed it. I was still angry at Edward and Bella. I don’t know why I just guessed it was because my girlfriend’s life was put on the line while Bella was once again top priority.

Once we got back to Forks, Carlisle cleared some room to put Emily. I placed her down and stepped back.

“I am going to clean her,” I said looking at Carlisle

“Okay, just be careful with her body, she is so fragile at the moment,” Carlisle said kindly.

I nodded and went into the bathroom. Running a bath for her I went back into the room and picked her up; taking her into the bathroom. Within 10 minutes the bath was full and I got her undressed. Her body was so thin and frail, she had cuts up her arms and I could see near enough every single bone in her body. I placed her in the bath gently and started to wash her. I first washed her hair and then I washed her body. Gently I picked her body up and wrapped it in a towel before heading to my room. I placed her one the bed and made sure that her heart was still beating and luckily it was. I grabbed some clothes from my closet and changed her into a black dress. Then I took her back downstairs and placed her back on the table. It was so hard watching my girlfriend lay there defenceless. Closing my eyes, I sighed and turned around walking out of the room and into the main room where Emmett, Jess, Alice and Jasper were all sat. I sat next to Emmett and everyone when silent.

“How is she,” asked Alice

“Fine,” I wasn’t in the mood to talk about it

“I’m sorry we didn’t mean for them to leave and go to the studio,” Alice apologised

“We should have kept a closer eye on them,” Jasper whispered

“It’s fine. Her heart is still beating. She has a chance,” I said looking at the door that led to her body.

“But she wouldn’t be that way if-“

“Shut up,” I shouted, “Just shut up. You have no clue what I am going through!”

I stood up and went outside slamming the door on the way out and causing the windows to smash around it. I ran into the woods and collapsed after a while, justing sitting there scared that she would never wake up.

It had been a few days since we had got back. We had word from Edward that Bella was awake and she was okay. The only problem was she wanted to know how Emily was and no one had any idea. She hadn’t woken up but her heart still gave off a steady beat. I was sat on the sofa listening to her heart beat when it stopped suddenly. I looked up and went to the door and there she was sitting up looking around. It was only now that I saw how skinny she used to be. Her face was fuller and her bones no longer stood out. Her hair was a deep brown colour and her skin was as pale as snow. She spotted me and a grin filled her face.

“Rosalie,” Emily ran over to me within seconds and launched her arms around me.

“How am I alive?” She asked frowning.

“You’re one of us now,” I said smiling at Emily

“What do you mean one of us?” Emily took a step back and frowned.

“You’re a vampire”
