Connie woke up at around 3 am in Jacobs arms and smiled slightly, before moving to grab a blanket which lay nearby.
'Hey.' Jacob mumbled sleepily, rubbing his eyes.
'Oh, sorry. I was just getting the blanket.' Connie apologized.
'Its alright, why don't you go up to bed, I'll clean stuff up here?' He suggested. Connie smiled and nodded at him, kissing his cheek before walking out.
Connie had got changed into her pyjamas and had climbed into bed, when Jacob knocked on the door.
'I came to see if you're alright.' He smiled, sitting at the end of the bed.
'I'm okay, you?'
'I'm fine. I've taken the next week off to look after you.' Jacob told her, smiling gently. 'And I wanted to, before you criticize me.' He added at the end.
'Thank you.' Connie replied, half - smiling.
'If you ever want to talk, about anything, I'm your man.' Jacob reassuringly told her, after noticing sadness creep into her eyes.
'Its nothing big, I was just thinking about what Ollie said, when I told him I'd lost the baby. He told me I didn't deserve it. Do you think he was right?' She asked hesitantly, staring at her hands.
'Of course not, you, of all people, deserve to be happy. Your baby was taken from you, by Ollie. You didn't lose it. I know things with Grace haven't exactly gone to plan, but you are a good mum, you try your best. You did deserve that baby, don't ever think that you didn't.' Jacob replied, placing his hand on the top of the duvet, where Connie's leg lay under.
Connie felt tears come to her eyes, and didn't even attempt to stop them falling. She leant forward and lay her head in her hands and started sobbing.
Jacob's eyes filled with sadness as he leant forward and pulled her into a hug.
'It's okay Connie. I know its hard, but I will help you. Everyone back at the ED will help, you're not alone anymore.' He soothingly told her.
'I'm sorry' She sobbed into his chest.
'Shh, you don't have to apologize.' He said, hugging her tighter. He hated seeing her like this, it broke his heart. But he was going to help her, and she would soon be better.
They stayed like that for nearly half an hour, before Jacob moved and realised Connie had fallen asleep. He laid her down on the bed and pulled the duvet over her, before kissing her forehead.
'Goodnight, sweetcheeks.' He whispered, as he turned the light out.
As he turned away, he felt Connie's hand grab his. 'Stay.' she whispered, holding his hand.
Jacob went round to the other side of the bed and lay awkwardly on his back, Connie rolled over to face him and half - smiled.
'I feel safe with you.' She whispered, leaning her head on his chest.
