'You need to step back sir.' A policeman called, pulling out his hand cuffs.

'But he hit me!' Ollie shouted, turning around.

'We will speak to him later, but for now, you are under arrest.' The policeman calmly replied, forcibly turning Ollie around and handcuffing him, before giving him the usual arrest warning.

'I hate you! You'll pay for this! You, Connie and her idiotic daughter. I swear!' He yelled as the police officer walked him away.

Jacob ran upstairs and into the bedroom, where Grace and Connie were sat on the bed clinging to each other.

'He's been arrested.' He told the two of them, before pulling them both into a hug.

'He's gone?' Connie asked, crying.

'Hey, look at me, there's no need to cry, yeah? He's gone.' Jacob said, kissing Connie's head.

'Mum, can we go home in the morning?' Grace asked, pulling away from Jacob.

'We're leaving tomorrow anyway.' Connie replied, smiling at Grace whilst trying to stop crying. 'Why don't we try and sleep? Its only two, and I would like to leave early tomorrow.' She added.

'Can I sleep in your bed tonight? I feel safer with you.' Grace whispered, as though it was some secret.

'Of course, darling. Do you want to go and get changed?' Connie asked, smiling resurringly at Grace, who nodded and wondered out of the room.

'How are you?' Jacob asked, stroking Connie's arm.

'Shocked more than anything, but I'm glad I've got you. I don't know what I did to deserve you.' Connie replied, smiling slightly.

Jacob leant in and kissed Connie before taking her hand.

'The police might want to talk to me, I did punch him.' Jacob admitted.

'Okay.' Connie nodded 'Thank you, for everything.'

'I would move heaven and earth for you, this is nothing.' Jacob tried to joke.

Connie smirked and chuckled slightly, before walking over to the wardrobe and pulling out shorts and a baggy jumper.

Jacob found some baggy sweatpants and changed into them, whilst Connie changed into the clothes she had found.

Grace came back into the room wearing her pyjamas and cuddling her teddy bear, named Fred.

'Hey, darling. You okay?' Connie asked, pulling the duvet back, so Connie could climb in.

'Yeah, I'm just a little scared.' Grace replied, laying down in the bed.

'I'll quickly go downstairs and lock the door.' Jacob muttered, before walking out.

'He can't touch you anymore. I'm here, Jacob is here. The police have got him.' Connie told her, climbing into bed beside her.

'I know. That's not what I'm scared about. Did he used to beat you up mum?' Grace asked, genuinly worried for Connie.

Connie sighed and looked away. She felt tears come to her eyes. She decided it would be better for Grace to here it from her, rather than someone else. It would also mean that Grace would hear it from her point of view, not from an outsider's.

'Yes, Ollie did. He also controlled me, manipulated me and mentally hurt me two. He was lovely at first, took me out to diner, walked me home, stuff like that. Then, a few weeks after we'd moved in together, he got really angry about me cleaning his desk. We argued, and he hit me. He apologised and told me it would never happen again. Stupidly, I believed him. Needless to say, it happened again. He started becoming controlling, and would play mind games. He became angry constantly. Then a few weeks ago, he got really angry over me getting some wine. I ended up in hospital. I also found out that he had made me pregnant, but he'd kicked and punched me in the stomach, and pushed me down the stairs. When I told him what had happened, he told me that it was my fault the baby had died, that I didn't deserve it. But, Jacob saved me, and helped me press charges and break up with him. The good thing that's come out of all this is that I found Jacob. Because, although what happened was terrible, I found the best thing in the world. Someone who loved me for me, didn't care about my past, but wanted to be with me no matter what. I love him too no matter what. That's what I want you to cling on to.' Connie told Grace, crying. They both hadn't realised that Jacob had returned to the room, and was standing in the doorway listening to them, whilst smiling.

'I know, you're finally happy mum.' Grace smiled. 'He's your saviour.'

Jacob walked into the room and smiled at them both.

'I think we're going to be okay, us three.' He said, climbing on the bed and hugging them both.
