I hadn't seen Jacob since Saturday. It was Wednesday, and I was sitting in Art, Alexander was annoying me, since I'd decided to sit next to him instead of Kayline, Lilly, and Embry. They were annoying me too lately. I'd just been on edge. My mom and brothers we're coming in two weeks, but I was seriously considering just going down to see them. I think that I needed a break from La Push. Or maybe I just missed Jacob. Who cared. Apparently he didn't miss me, because he hadn't even text or called me in the last 3 days. It was odd, but I shrugged it off and tried to ignore it. Kayline and Lilly were always with Quil and Embry, and we hadn't hung out together since Friday. It felt so different these past 4 days. I had chilled with Leah on Monday, but even she had a new reason to be gone all the time. That boy I had introduced her too on Friday was her imprint.
I was just bitter because I was bored. At least I had that BBQ Leah was throwing to look forward too. I was going to go to Alexander's house today. We were going to chill. He seemed like the only one who had time.
The bell had rung. I had been completely focused in all my classes. I was trying to distract myself from Jacob. Why the fuck hadn't he called? I skipped lunch, because I didn't feel like seeing my friends. I seen them enough at home.
I was walking to my car, in which I had rode in alone all week, as Alexander approached.
"Ditch your car. Let's drive mine to my house, and then I'll drive you back to pick it up." He smiled.
It sounded dumb. But I said okay, after all, I'd already killed Alexander once, what could he do.
We were riding in the car to his house when Alex said,"You've been distant lately."
"Nahh everyone ignores me, so I ignore them."
"Oh." Alexander said. "This must be about Jacob." He eyed me seriously.
"Let's not talk about it." I told him dismissively.
He sighed. "Okay."
At his house we played arcade games in his giant game room. He was a pro.
I found myself smiling for the first time that week and almost laughing. Alex was fun.
"Wanna go swimming?" He asked.
"I don't have a suit." I told him.
He smirked at me. And I could tell he was thinking something ornery. "Just go in your underclothes."
I laughed. I couldn't say it wasn't a good idea. Plus, I was feeling a little unlike myself.
"Okay." i shrugged. Alex had a shocked look on his face.
He had definitely expected me to say no.
While in the pool we were playing Marco-polo.
"Marco!" Alexander yelled.
"Polo!" I called. He dipped under the pool. He was swimming past me. I laughed, thinking he didn't know where I was. I heard water moved then felt an arm wrap around my waist. A scream escaped my mouth.
"Gotcha." he whispered in my ear.
I turned around smiling, he still had his arms wrapped around me. "I guess you did." I told him. He looked at me, as if he were seeing me for the first time.
We stood there, me wrapped up with him for a good thirty seconds. The abandonment must have gotten the best of me, because when Alexander Martin leaned in to kiss me, I just let it happen.
He pulled back and started to talk "I'm so-sorr-"
I cut him off by kissing him back.
As we locked lips, the world begin to spin. A place in my heart was unlocked for him. It didn't feel as good as kissing Jacob, but almost. It didn't feel as real, as kissing Jacob, but almost. It didn't feel as right, as kissing Jacob, but almost. It didn't complete me like kissing Jacob did, but almost, and almost was enough for me right now.
