*JACOB'S POV*... continued.
A.J looked up to see us standing there. She immediately rushed into my arms. She mumbled words into my chest saying, "Jake, I think he's dead." Then she started crying again.
I hugged her, and patted her head."It's gonna be okay." I said.
He wasn't dead. I don't know how I knew, but something wasn't right. Embry took A.J downstairs, and went to get Lilly and Kayline. Quil and I stayed. We were going to find out what the fuck was going on.
I looked at Quil after taking another glance at Alexander's seemingly lifeless body. "He's not dead."
"I know!" Was all Quil said. He walked up to the body. He reached out to check for a pulse.
When Quil's hand touched Alexander's body, his eyes shot open. They were yellow and bloodshot. He was gripping Quil's hand almost to breaking point. It was hard to break us though. Usually only a vampire, or another one of us could.
"Shouldn't have threw a party tonight." Alexander's croaked.
"Man let go of my hand!" Quil shouted.
I pinched the bridge of my nose. I was about to lose it.
"He's taking over!" That weird voice said again. Alexander was turning a gray-scaly color, like a fish. "I'm sorry my little baby had to see me sooo dead!" It snickered, an evil.
I hoped he wasn't referring to A.J because that was NOT his baby at all.
"Wished she would have stayed!" it was saying with it's eyes close. It opened them back up, and they were green, all the way, except for a red dot where the pupil should be. "We'd have had a feast."
That was it. I tried to punch the thing in the face, but it swerved past me, at vampire speed. It wasn't a vampire though, that's for damn sure. Something told me this thing was worse than a damn leech. Alexander was freaking weird. And sometimes different accents come out when he'd talk. I took another swing at it. This time my fist grazed the side of it's face. Quil was standing in the background frozen in shock.
"Tsk, Tsk, Tsk," the thing was saying. "Naughty shape-shifter, you dare hit me?"
I heard someone running up the stairs. And then Embry yelled "No, lets go."
It was A.J. "I have to get Jacob." she yelled back.
She was running towards the room. I had never been this scared in my life. If this thing hurt my imprint... I swear.
"Jacob, let's go Abby has turned into some shit and we gotta leave no--" She cut herself off when she finally reached the doorways the best of .
"Its tha-tha-that Alex?" She stuttered, while shuddering.
"No sweetheart it's Xander!" The thing said before jumping out the window.
"Let's leave NOW!" I said in a stern voice. It was at least 2:30. We needed to go to A.j's and call everyone over. I told Quil to shift, and go to A.j's so he'd let whoever was on patrol know what was out there. Kayline was too drunk to drive so we left A.j's car there. Lilly got in with Embry, and Kayline got in with me and A.j.
When we reached the house. The whole pack was outside. Everyone was in wolf form, except Sam. I walked the girls in the house.
"Stay here," I told him. "we're going to get things sorted out."
Kayline shook her head obediently. Lilly just sat there trembling, A.J stared out in space. I wondered if she'd be alright.
I walked outside.
