Australia, birthdays, and Bindi Erwin

The next day

Jay's pov

We leave the hotel at eight thirty, to make it there by ten. Lucy still has no idea, at all. I cannot wait to see this.

I arranged for Terri and the kids to meet us at the front gate. We get there thirty minutes later. I pull through the gate, and Lucy starts to flip out.

She squeals "daddy ! Oh my gosh ! It's bindi Erwin ! Oh my gosh, daddy!"

Lucy scrambles out of the car, and Nathan follows her out. I follow them out, as do the other boys. I find it cute that when Lucy actually has the chance to meet bindi, Lucy gets shy.

She runs back to me, and grabs my hand.

"C'mon, daddy !"

She pulls on my hand, and I follow her. We walk up to them and I introduce myself, Lucy, and the boys.

Bindi introduces her family. She, Robert, and Lucy hug. All of us adults say "aww." Bindi turns to Terri.

"Can I take Lucy to meet the

animals, please ?"

Terri nods and says "ask her daddy, first."

Bindi looks up at me.

"Can I please take Lucy to meet the animals ?"

I reply "yes, of course. Don't lose her, please."

Bindi jokes "I don't plan on it, mate."

They walk off, talking and giggling. Terri turns to us.

"If you want to follow Robert and me, we'll take you to meet the animals."

We do, and she takes us to meet the saltwater crocodiles.

Robert says "we've got 30 saltwater crocs. The first one is Monty. He's really cranky. Saltwater crocs are the only croc that can stand saltwater for long periods of time. Freshies, or freshwater crocodiles, can't spend long periods in saltwater. They have to stay in freshwater." Wow. Robert really knows what he's talking about. Then again, he is Steve Erwin's son.

Robert and Terri take us to meet the rest of the animals. After that, we meet the koalas. Their names are Julie, Jessie, Austin, and Deana. What really throws us for a loop is when Terri asks if we want to get our pictures taken with a koala. We all say yes, without even thinking about it. Terri passes each of us a koala, then she takes our picture. Once done, she and Robert return them to their enclosure.

5 hours later

Bindi's pov

Wow. Lucy is so much fun. She taught me some Spanish, and also a bit of sign language. I taught her some Aussie words. We are like best friends, now. I take her to the wildlife sanctuary to meet the patients. We've got five animals in there. Jenny, a tazzy devil, or Tasmanian devil, Aussie, a Joey kangaroo, lovey, a brush tailed possum, chewy, a wombat, and splash, a longneck turtle. I also let her meet the staff in the hospital. After that, we leave. We go back outside, and I check my watch. It's 1:00. Mama told us to meet them at the perenties enclosure by 1:30. Lucy sees me check my watch.

She asks "que hora Es ?"

I answer "Es la una."

She compliments "muy buena, Chica. Eres aprendizaje."

I thank her "gracias, hermanita."

She replies "de nada, Hermana mayor."

Yes, Lucy and I have started to call each other little sister, and older sister. We act so much like sisters that it isn't even funny. It's so fun.

I like the fact that I'll be able to confuse my mother, and her daddy.

The day Lucy turns eight

Tom's pov

"Lucy. I know you're excited, but you need to tone it down. There's no need to yell."

"But Uncle Tom, I'm turning eight today !"

"I know you are, but you still don't need to yell."

"But I'm t - " I cut her off mid sentence.

"Babe, just because it's your birthday, doesn't mean that I won't smack your bottom. You either quit arguing with me, or I can smack your bottom."

Luc immediately covers her bottom. Just like Nathan, she doesn't like getting swatted. I don't exactly blame her, either .

Lucy says cutely "nope. Sorry, Uncle Tom. No need for swats. I'll behave."

I hug her, then reply "good, I'm glad."

She hugs me back, then jumps down from my arms. Lucy runs off. She tries to herd us all to the door, she really wants to go. We're going back to Australia zoo, where Terri and bindi have a surprise birthday party planned out. Lucy has no idea, she just wants to spend more time with bindi.

Max's pov

We pull up outside the zoo, and Lucy gets VERY excited. She's talking so fast that none of us can understand what she's saying. I pull into a parking space, and Lucy's the first one out. She looks mega super excited. We enter the zoo, and it's crowded with people. I carry Lucy to the back of the crocoseum, where Terri does crocodile demonstrations. We're followed by the rest of the boys.

We go backstage, I wave at Terri to let her know we're here.

Bindi and Terri announce "welcome to Australia zoo, everybody ! We've got a special surprise for you today ! We've got a birthday in the house !"

The crowd applauds, and whistles can be heard.

Bindi says "if you want to turn your gaze toward the big screen, our surprise will be out momentarily."

The audience turns toward the big screen. That's our cue to enter.

I run onto the field with Lucy and the guys. Terri takes Lucy from me.

Terri announces "meet Lucy Skye mcguiness, she's turning eight today, everybody ! Let's give her a special Australian birthday cheer !"

Terri starts to sing happy birthday. Everyone joins in. We finish the song, then wave as all of us run out of the crocoseum.

Terri and bindi escort us to Lucy's surprise party.

Lucy's pov

Oh my gosh, I can't believe that bindi and her mama did this ! It's so totally awesome ! What's even better is the cake ! It's German chocolate, and is shaped like a koala. It's really adorable. We have cake and ice cream, and by the time the party's over, I'm pooped.
