Chapter Three

We arrived at the Lion’s Den right on time. Alec parked the car and all three of us hopped out. I took a minute to notice our surroundings. There was a dark alley not too far from the entrance of the club. Other than that there was nothing else to be seen except for the few cars that were parked outside of the club. No doubt most of the cars were the workers.

Most people that came to the Lion’s Den had enough sense not to drive. The cops were really cracking down on drinking and driving. We drove because we knew that we wouldn’t be doing hardly any drinking. It was too risky. We needed to be on alert at all times.

Instead of walking to the end of the waiting line like most people around us, I led the way to the front entrance of the club. I could hear people in line complaining and wailing about how I was cutting in line. Did I care?

 Of course not.

I walked to the body guards that were guarding the doors making sure that nobody tried to bomb rush into the club. People were crazy nowadays. They would do anything just to get what they wanted. I walked up to the front of the doors and smiled at the body guard on my left. I knew him from when I first started my training to be the ringleader of Los Suenos.

“Hey Pete.” I smiled. “How have you been?”

He smiled back at me knowingly. “What do you mean where have I been? Where have you been Tiger? I haven’t seen you in forever. How is everything going?”

“It’s just going.” I stated nonchalantly.

I tried not to get people I knew that weren’t apart of the gang involved into any of the business. If any of the rival gangs found out about them, these people could really be put into danger. Even though gang life was three-fourths danger, I still didn’t want any of that reflected back on any of the people.

“I’m glad that it’s going.” He winked at me knowing full well that I wasn’t going to answer his question with complete detail. Pete had an idea of what I did, but he didn’t know the full story.

He turned his attention off of me for a few seconds to glance behind me and wave to Alec and Rose. Both waved back with huge smiles pasted on their faces. It’s not like they didn’t like Pete. They didn’t want to admit it, but they were a little intimidated by Pete. I mean who wouldn’t be? Pete was at least 6’3 with huge muscles that popped out with everything he wore.

Even if he was wearing a loose shirt you knew that he had a huge bulk of muscle under it. It also didn’t help that he kept his hair cut in a military style way and had a sleeve of tattoos traveling down his arms. I chuckled to myself at their sudden change of behavior and Pete looked down at me raising an eyebrow.

“Do I even want to know what’s going on in that head of yours Tiger?”

“Do you ever?” I winked and straightened my jacket.

Pete laughed. “I guess not.” He waved us into the Lion’s Den. “It was great to see you guys again. Make sure you don’t stay away for as long next time.”

I reached up and patted Pete’s flat belly. To be a big man, he didn’t have a hint of fatness anywhere on his body. “I promise that we’ll just stop by one day just for the heck of it. No business or anything like that.”

He narrowed his eyes. “Promise?”

I stuck my tongue out at him. “I promise Pete. Now can we go in please?” I asked looking up at him with puppy dog eyes.
