Whitney Engen's POV
Today I am going to visit Ashlyn Harris. We were in the same grade in high school and we were kinda a thing before she left for college. She has some soccer game or something up here and since I only live twenty minutes away from the hotel she's staying at, what better chance to win her back than now?
Ali Krieger's POV
I put on a pair of sweatpants and a sweatshirt before heading out of my hotel room. I decide to take the elevator down to the dining hall since my legs are so tired. The game went into overtime but we eventually won so it's all good. As I head to the elevators, one elevator is just about to close. Inside the elevator is Ashlyn and some other girl I've never seen before. Alright, Ali. Calm down. You can't get jealous. Especially since you gave her shit about being jealous. They're probably just friends anyways. And if not, why do you care so much? There's lot of other girls...just none like Ashl-no stop. You guys are just friends and you know that.
At the dining hall, all the other girls are already waiting inside. Of course I would be the last one here. Outside the dining hall, Ashlyn is taking to that girl from the elevator. I try to walk inside without them noticing me. After all, I'm not prepared to find out about what's going on between them. We still have a game tomorrow, I need to be mentally prepared for it.
Unfortunately, my plan doesn't work and Ashlyn immediately calls me over to them. I slowly look up and force a smile. "Hey Ashlyn!" I also look at the other girl and wave. I don't know what she is to Ashlyn but I don't want to lose Ashlyn. Might as well be nice to this chic then.
"Ali, this is my old friend, Whitney. Whitney, this is my teammate, Ali."
Whitney smiles at me but it doesn't really feel genuine. It feels more condescending, almost as if she had/knew something I didn't. What is this girl even doing here? Ali, just be nice. Don't let your mood dictate your manners. "Nice to meet you. Are you coming to dinner with us or?"
"Yeah, actually I am. I live about twenty minutes from here and I haven't seen Ashlyn since she left high school. It seemed like the perfect time to catch up and get to meet some of her new friends."
"That's great!" This should be good...
