Ali's POV
Ashlyn gently shakes me awake. "Ali, get up. We've got class in ten minutes and you know we're screwed if we're late."
I jump out of bed. "Shit, we didn't set an alarm last night. Do you need to borrow some clothes?" I shout from my closet as i grab a random shirt and a pair of sweatpants.
"Yes please."
I throw a pile of clothes at Ashlyn so she can pick whatever she wants. I begin to change, not caring that Ashlyn is also in the room. Her eyes widen and her face instantly becomes red. "U-um should I go to the other room?" She asks. I look over at her after putting my shirt on. "I'm already changed! Quit staring and hurry up! It's still gonna take us like two minutes to get there if we sprint, we don't have time for this!"
"So I can stare later, since we'll have tons of time then?"
I smack the back of her head as I move past her to get to the bathroom.
"I'll take that as a yes!" She says before finally getting dressed.
-------
We arrive to class about half a second before the bell rings. Our teacher looks at us with a disaproving frown but doesn't bother to lecture us. Instead, he turns to the board and begins writing all of today's notes plus tonight's assignment. "Test on Friday." He says before returning to his desk.
The rest of class is spent in silence while everyone takes notes and studies. When the bell rings, I quickly shut my book and put everything away.
"Someone's in quite a rush to leave." Ashlyn says, watching me curiously.
"We skipped breakfast! The best meal of the day! I'm starving, I need food, like now! Aren't you hungry?"
She avoids eye contact and just shrugs. I brush it off. "Wanna study together for a bit? After I get something to eat of course."
She nods and picks up my books for me. "Let's go"
"You know I can carry my books by myself right?"
She ignores me and continues to walk towards the cafe.
I order some food, waitkng expectantly for Ashlyn to order after me. When she doesn't, I look at her confused. "Not hungry" she mumbles.
I begin to worry about her. I don't even remember her eating anything at all yesterday. I quickly pay for my food as worry sets in. When it's done, I thank the dude and then walk with Ashlyn back to my dorm in silence. "Okay, so what chapter did you study during class? I studies eight because that makes absolutely no sense but-"
"Can we talk for a bit first?"
She looks a little worried but nods anyways.
She purposely drops all our books on the table very loudly before plopping herself onto the couch. I sit beside her, taking a sip of my coffee.
"Ashlyn?"
She hums in response, staring at the wall.
"Um, when was the last time you ate? Cuz I didn't see you eat anything yesterday and you said you weren't hungry just bar-"
"Ali I'm fine okay." She doesn't look at me, just plays with her fingers.
I place my food on the table and move closer to the talented goalkeeper. I lift her chin up with my finger. She still tries to look away but eventually gives in.
"What is going on? You need to tell me Ashlyn, please. I'm scared."
"I'm fine, I'm just not hungry."
"Oh really? You're fine? Then when was the last time you ate?"
"I don't know..."
"Please don't lie to me Ashlyn"
She sighs mumbling a quick and almost inaudible 'two days'
"Ashlyn! Come on, eat something. Please, that's not good for you."
"Who cares..." she looks down at the floor.
"Ashlyn, i care! You could get hurt from doing that and I need you. I don't know what I'd do without you. Will you please eat, for me?"
She begins to shake my head, but suddenly stops and nods slowly.
I hand her my muffin and she slowly takes a bite out of it.
She looks at me for approval and I smile, lean forward, and kiss her forehead.
"I love you Ashlyn."
Her eyes widen. "Really?"
"Of course"
She looks down at the muffin, looking kind of guilty for eating.
"Ashlyn, please keep eating. I don't know why you don't want to eat, but i think you're absolutely beautiful and you always will be. So please don't be afraid to eat, I promise you it won't hurt you to eat."
"No one ever told me that before."
"What?"
"I love you, no one's ever said that to me before."
"Are you serious?"
She nods her head slowly, looking down embarassed.
I open my arms and she slowly snuggles into my side, hiding her face in my neck.
"You are the most extraordinary person I've ever met. Please don't do that to yourself." I whisper into her ear.
"I'm not extraordinary Ali, don't you get it?!" Ashlyn says, pain evident in her voice.
"You've seen me treat practically everyone like shit. No one even cares about me. That doesn't make me extraordinary."
Tears fill my eyes as I hear her talk about herself so negatively. I look straight into her eyes. "I will show you just how beautiful and amazing you are, even if it takes a lifetime."
