"I didn't mean to upset him..." I whispered under my breathe, Jack didn't seem like he knew what to say. "Is he coming back to pick me up?" I bite the side of my lip anxiously, but Jack didn't answer me probably because he didn't know how to comfort me.
"This was a mistake.... this was a mistake..." I lowered my head and took deep breathes.
Jack just stared at me, "He just needs some space, he's always like that." I didn't care if he was like that with everyone, I didn't want him to be this way with me. "What if he doesn't come back? He was pretty pissed." I remind, I covered my face in my hands.
He sat quietly beside me for a few seconds, "Trust me, he'll come back."I pealed my fingers from my face and looked at Jack, he stared back at me. "Who was the girl he was talking about?" Jack stood up from bed and walked over his closet, "Lexi." I guess it made sense but I didn't understand why Sam would stick around with Nate if he was dating his ex.
"Why does he stick around her and Nate? Doesn't it just piss him off to know that his friend is dating his ex?" I asked, Jack threw on a white shirt."Well, for starters Nate is his best friend. We have this saying, bros before hoes, I think you've heard of it. They weren't gonna let some girl get in the way of their friendship, Sam is just waiting for Lexi to cheat and leave Nate and then she'll be gone."
"How can a girl cheat on Sam and then date his friend? And how can a guy date a girl that cheated on his friend, that's kinda gross."
Jack observes me from afar, his stare were making me uncomfortable. "Where did you say you met Sam?" I slid a strand of my hair behind my ear, I never mentioned where we met."Paradise motel."
He walked over to his bedroom door and opened it, "Did he take you to the motel?" I didn't understand why any of it mattered, "No, I didn't even know he would be there."
He motioned for me to follow him, "I'll show you your room, since your boyfriend left you." I didn't deny that Sam was my boyfriend, I wouldn't mind if he was.Jack lead me down the neon blue hallway, he opened up the bedroom door. "I'll see you in the morning." It was pretty early for him to be saying goodnight, but I just smiled at him.
"You too."
He closed the door behind himself. I stood in the neon room, feeling lonelier than ever. I looked around the room, it was nice. I didn't feel too comfortable being in this house, because I didn't know anyone expect for Jack. But I didn't really know him neither, how was I suppose to sleep?
I turned around and faced the bed, I stared at the red neon bed. I left the bedroom and paused in the door frame, when I looked down the hallway and every single door looked the same.I hesitated to leave from in front of room paranoid that I wouldn't be able to find it again. I looked down the other end of the hallway, where Jack's room was and figured I'd ask him where my room was when I came back.
Once I convinced myself that everything would be okay I continued down the hallway. I went down the spiral staircase and there so many people in the large living room, drinking and smoking.I saw Jack from afar talking to a few guys, I walked pass the crowds of people and towards the front entrance of the house.
I didn't want him to see me leaving otherwise he would question where I was going, plus I didn't want him following me.I zipped up my jacket as I exited the front door, with a sigh. It was pitch black dark outside, the street lights weren't doing much help. I slide my hands into my jacket pockets, hesitating on which way to go.
I had no clue where the nearest gas station or liquor store was, but I didn't mind spending all night trying to find one.Without a thought I turned right, it had to be the right way to the liquor store. I began walking down the sidewalk, a little paranoid.
I had every right to be paranoid, the streets were silent and dark. Anyone could easily grab me and I would be screwed, but I had a perfect reason for leaving Jack's house. I can't remember the last time I ate and I was hungry, there was probably only weed and alcohol back at his house.
♔ ♔ ♔
There was absolutely no one in the liquor store and I was hundred percent sure the cashier was watching me.
There was no way I could steal someone to eat without him seeing me. I had been lingering in the same aisle for a few minutes, deciding on what to do. The last thing I wanted was to get caught stealing, but it wasn't as if I could avoid getting caught since I was the only person in the store. The cashier would definitely know I was stealing if I walked out of the store without buying anything.
I pretended to search for something while the cashier glared around the store. Someone came into the store and I looked towards the direction of the customer, but I couldn't see much because of the shelves.
The cashier looked directly at me and I froze, not even noticing Jack approaching me. "If you wanted to go to the store you could have just told me, I would have given you a ride without you having to walk here." My eyes shifted on him, "I figured you went to bed." I lied, lowering my eyes back down at the rack.Jack chuckled, "It would have been okay, I wouldn't have mind. It's funny that you said that considering I ended up coming here anyways." I smiled at him, as I looked over his shoulder and at the cashier.
While he wasn't looking, I grabbed something at random and was about to slide it up my shirt until Jack grabbed my hand."What are you doing?" He whispered, as he clenched my hand tighter. I looked into his eyes, "What does it look like, genius?" He pulled the bag of beef jerky from my hands and held it up to my face, "If you wanted this you should have just asked."
Jack walked up to the counter with the bag and I thought for a second he as going to rat me out. I stood in aisle like an idiot, before he motioned for me to come to the counter."Here." He snapped.
I took the bag of jerky and slowly looked over at the cashier who had only given me a glare, before he focused back on Jack. "You can go wait in the car." He looked over his shoulder at me and I quickly left the store.
